"don't worry about hurting the crown itself, it is quite strong"
I beg to differ!
While the crown base is quite strong, the long thin tines bend VERY easily.
Mine did and almost broke completely off - i would brace them on something before attempting to sand!

Finally got some time to work with the Twilight Witch King. Excellent figure ! I scratched the crown, sandpaper the clothes, and heavily sprayed the whole figure at good distance with white paint. I really like the final result.

Thanks ! I thought about the white paint as soon as I received it, and it turned out even better than my expectations. You may know there is glue in the paint to be sprayed, so when you spray a surface it is a better "primer" than with regular paint. So I sprayed at one meter distance and I knew the paint fog would still stick to the figure. It's not really a layer, it's more like a veil of white dust. And yes, it killed the ghoulish aspect and gave it a very ghostly look. I will make others pictures in a moment.
:)

Thanks ! :D
Some other shots... Actually I'm shocked with how bad it looks in pictures... On the pictures you only see big dots of white, in hand it is a lot smoother. The photos only capture the drops of white paint and not the "white dust", it's strange... Anyway I'm happy with the mod, even if it doesn't show on the pics. :/

That looks amazing! Did you use just a regular spray paint can? I love the effect on the belts

The presentation of your figures is simple but stunning. Love the poses and seeing them stand together like that! :)

Got a double dose from the land of Middle Earth.

I actually got the Witch King a month ago, but needed a replacement robe from Asmus because of some spilled super glue on the original.
These guys both look nice and I'm overall impressed with Asmus.

Pros:, outfits are well tailored. Weapons are metal. Bodies feel firm. Details are good.

Cons, Boots have no articulation.

I need suggestions...on the witch king...I cant get the frills above the shoulders to sit flat. Anyone else have a suggestion?

This or Mouth of Sauron? Which is better quality and has more shelf life presence?

I would prefer Twilight Witch King. More significant of a character. Mouth of Sauron is about $50 cheaper though so that may play into your decision. But WK has quite a scene in Fellowship whereas MoS was a deleted scene only in the extended cut. And as far as the books go I would say the Witch King is definitely a more significant character still.

Aside from how much time one got or, how significant of a character he was in the move...
visually (IMHO) MoS has way more shelf life presence (remember you can change the facial expression).
TW is of a better quality (newer release- Asmus quality just keeps on getting better).

That is a fair assessment, as well. I do think that the monotone palette of TWK makes him stand out a good deal on display too, though. The alternate mouth plates for the Mouth does aid in switching things up quite a bit. Gah. Just get both of them!
