I thought someone bumped up an old thread. Only to be pleasantly surprised. Robocop 3? Eh. Don't care for the jet pack or the die-cast, but beggars can't be choosers. Don't know if any of this has to do with InArt or not, but I do have some hope for Terminator and Predator now.

The arm sockets are made from a hard clear plastic, which are prone to cracking over time or from a hard knock. The rubber parts on the knees and elbows can split, if left bent for too long.

Yes but the places where they use diecast, it's more than sufficient for capturing the details necessary. With a clean Robocop like this, you wouldn't be gaining any details by switching to plastic.

The battle-damaged version is excellent, but it feels hollow and light by comparison despite costing the same amount as the clean diecast figure in their day.

Now if we were living in a world where plastic meant it'd cost $100 less, then sure. But if they're gonna charge us $300 either way, I'd rather it have the heft and metal feel of diecast.
I kind of doubt they'll reissue the battle damaged version with helmet removed.

My assumption is that they can get away with re-using the Weller mouth sculpts because it would be difficult to claim they are using his likeness based on a pair of lips, hence they can get around paying Weller for his likeness again. Notice there's no sound module and remote with this one?

It was likely cheaper to license R3 than R2, which is what they should have done instead. HT is cutting corners to raise profits, and will make you pay a premium for accessories that will never leave the box.

Keeping my R1 Robo, but happy for others who can finally add him to their collections.

Has anyone found a solution for when the clear joints break?

I was able to get the battle-damaged Robocop with ED-209 back in 2014 but the regular Robocop was the one that got away. So happy I didn't break down and spend the $500 for one. Having said that, if the color is chrome again, I may still pass on it.

Now hopefully the other release that got away will be re-released . . . . . the Keaton Batmobile!

Yeah I think there's likely a licensing reason they went with R3. That said, take the horrible movie out of the equation and looking at it purely from a toy standpoint - the jetpack and arm cannon are more interesting than any accessories that would have accompanied an R2 release.

Which is kinda funny because Enterbay did the exact same thing with their 1/4 scale release and it was clearly Weller's mouth they used for the helmet-ed sculpt. That's my only gripe about this release - the Robocop 3 branding on the box it will come in. :(

Unless you’re displaying the box, who cares.

Finally something different! First Neo and now Robocop, along with the BTTF 3 Doc and Marty. Stuff that’s not Disney or DC related. I think whoever was in charge of hot toys left and someone with brain cells is in charge now!
Now bring on Terminator!!
