Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

The fact is that you can compare the last four DC-based movies to any non-superhero contemporary film.

So MoS, TDKR, Green Lantern and Jonah Hex? Ugh.

There's only one DC/WB film that can be compared to non-superhero contemporary films, and it came out in 2008. We all know which one.

it doesn’t compare to Iron Man 1 (which actually felt like a movie) . . . . MOS is definitely better than most of Marvels’ bad movies such as, Iron Man 1.

Whaaaaat?!?

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

We all know why Marvel is brought up as soon as something negative about MoS or the DC films in general are brought up. Jealousy. Think about it, Marvel's rate of tent pole/eagerly awaited films are pretty much yearly. DC's are . . . not (but don't worry, after a delay and two date changes with BvS, DC plans on pumping em' out too!)

This year, Marvel killed it with their theatrical releases (met with much financial success and critical acclaim). Good or bad, every year they have something to offer, something to anticipate and enjoy. WB and DC do no such thing. In the span of a decade they've only had two films I've liked/loved and that's of one character. In a shorter time span, Marvel has been able to produce a lot of goodies from a variety of different characters and genres. They have a beating heart. DC on the other hand is cold and writhing on the operation table as it's getting defibrillated by panicked staff that haven't got a clue.

If I were one of those snooty, snobbish DC or Nolan fan bois. I'd be envious too.
The funny thing is that for several years (up until they started focusing on the nu-52 stuff IMO), DC's animated films were really great in general. Really, as good as what Marvel's done, and in some cases (like Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, Under the Red Hood) better than anything Marvel has done yet IMO. While at the same time, Marvel's animated movies were generally mediocre, though somewhat enjoyable for what they were (I really liked the Hulk Vs. one). In the live action universe, it's totally flipped. And WB seemed to lack the vision to realize that the guys doing those animated DC films "got it" in the way that Feige does for the live action Marvel stuff. I'm sure Bruce Timm was groaning his way through Green Lantern and Man of Steel.

Whaaaaat?!?
Just smile politely, nod, and slowly back away.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

And that goes all the way back to BTAS too (which is better than the live action films).

It's too bad WB/DC has a bias towards "cartoon guys".

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

You mean a positive bias by "fanboys" or a negative bias by the suits? I suspect there is a line of thought that "they just work on cartoons, they can't be serious filmmakers like. . .Zach Snyder and the Green Lantern guy" by some clueless execs at WB.

The latter. The suits, the producers, etc. They think those guys just make kids stuff.

I meant Iron Man 3, let me go edit that before I get tomatoes thrown at me.

I was framed!

By Kara no doubt. Hacking other accounts and posting falsehoods is his retaliation after I did the same to him. Poor soul.

Anyway, seeing your avatar and sig reminds me that it's always too easy to leave Fox and Sony out of the comic book competition. Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2, First Class and DOFP are up there with the best of em' in my opinion.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Oh yes they are :duff

Hopefully we can add that new Fantastic Four film to that list.

Re: Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

I'm going to go watch some porn. Better acting, plot and visual effects than all the Marvel movies.

Not a fan of Raimi’s Spiderman movies, or Singer’s/Vaughns X-Men films?

No. Can't stand them, I think they're the worst of the bunch with one, maybe two exceptions. First Class was pretty good and I haven't seen the new one yet. It's painful to watch any of the Spider-Man movies or the first three X-Men movies. The last Wolverine movie was watchable and IMO, much better than the XM1-3, but Hugh Jackman is so far removed from "Wolverine" that he might as well be a different character. The Fantastic 4 movies… Wow, 1/10 if I'm being generous. The Marvel Studios stuff has been much better, but I found IM2 and 3 and Thor 1 and 2 largely a waste of time. Both Captain America movies were far better, but I still peg them at 6/10 max. Guardians I haven't seen yet but I'm very much looking forward to. The Blade series wins hands-down in Marvel-town for me, but they're really not quite the same genre.

And I'm going to watch Se7en. Way more fun and joyful than all the DC movies.

Then I don't understand why you're reading and posting to this thread. I stay clear of threads about subjects I'm not interested in or dislike.

Seven is damn fine movie. Fincher however lost a huge chunk of my respect and credibility with that utter garbage Sorkin-penned Facebook movie. Before you think this is off topic….

Which brings me back to Jesse Eisenberg, who I quite like as an actor, but so far feel is completely wrong for any kind of Lex Luther, especially one in the current MoS universe.

I think that's part of the appeal for children that are fans of TDKR and MoS. They see that grey, drab world and immediately think that it's edgy and inspiring. They mistake dull, morally ambiguous cardboard cut outs as complex and innovative. In reality though, it's just as pessimistic and dull as a Michael Bay Transformers movie with their destruction fetishs, focus on government and military and themes of hope. Words like gritty and grounded get thrown around when really, the more apt term would be "undefined". They attempt to explain things like social commentary and concepts of hope and justice but still end in that safely neutral fashion.

Honestly, I don't know of too many people that would claim their favorite color is grey. That seems depressing to me.

That suit.. :lol it's mostly fine, but what's the point of a drawn on 'belt' ? :lol
Where do you see a drawn on belt? If you're talking about that lining in the pictures above it's actually just the suit bunching up creating a roll.
