Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

I would say this is exactly an inspired decision. Especially since there was ZERO reasons for Affleck to do this, other than passion for the source material.

Doing Batman after his recent succeses seems crazy. Remember that we are not talkig about some no-name actor (Cavill) who suddenly gets properelled to fame, becouse of a leading role in summer blockbuster. We are talking about a guy who just a few months ago, was standing in the Kodak Theatre scene in a tux, rocking his "director's beard" and accepting the Golden Knight for "Best Picture" and then mingling amongst the Callifornia's elite and all the great filmmakers at the "Hollywood's Reporter" after-parties.

And then this guy decides to put on the cowl and the tights...

This is a potentially career-wrecking move on his part, totally counterintuitive for a man in his position. And yet he did it. The only reason for this is becouse he know's what's what. He is a lifelong comic reader and a Batman fan. He knows that he can pull it off, and that it could seriously damage his career if he won't. And WB knows this too. There were other actors with potentially more star-power, who were interested in the part, but the studio still went with him. They must know what they are doing. They knew how controversial it would be and they still went with it. They must have a reason, they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like this for nothing.

Affleck has the looks and the jaw for Wayne.
He is physically imposing, when he hits the gym.
He now has that rugged aura of confidence and "grown man's experience" (certainly more than Cavill) and the image of "Boyish, teen heart-throb Ben Affleck" from 2003 has been replaced with "stern, unshaven, squared-jawed, Boston man". That sounds like a perfect material for a potential experienced Batman.

Yeah being a huge comic fan, Affleck himself regrets the outcome of Daredevil and how everyone were disappointed with it. So this is definitely a more risky move for him and for his career. Bold choice on his part to accept the role, whether he can pull it off needs to be seen. I hope he comes through.

I didn't even look her up. I ain't obsessed with her.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

So if Ben is batman his real buddy Matt Damon can be robin (sarcasm). I hope to god this movie don't freakin suck! And I'm actually someone who thought DD was a good movie or descent.

Behold!

there were some rumours regarding Jeffrey Dean Morgan just earlier. given that he worked with Znyder on Watchmen it even seemed quite plausible and it would've been an intresting choice too... then BOOM! it's The Batffleck.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

Didn't see this coming. Affleck has proven himself to be a good director and actor these days. But I'm still not sure about him as Batman. Hope he surprises the audience with his performance.

WB is just not making any inspired decisions anymore.

This is exactly the sort of decision that could turn out to be inspired, or a complete fail. No way to know yet.

I am no better at this potential casting game cause I still can't wrap my head around as to who should be cast as Batman. But certainly not a famous A-list actor like Affleck IMO. I wanted it to be someone out of the left field that took us by surprise.

I am a fan of Affleck's recent works, so I will be still rooting for him to succeed. And it would be a great move on WB's part if they can get him to direct Justice League.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

Yup ever since I watched magic city I wanted Jeff. I love his voice, so intimidating. And his work as the comedian was the best thing about watchmen for (me) anyway. I'm very disappointed as a batman fan right now I feel all the years of hard work by Nolan will be shi**** by this train wreck . Should have just got Bale. I almost fell off my bowl when I read the article and they said he has the acting chops. I'm like ohh but doesn't he get made fun of for being a terrible actor? -sigh-

I have held the opinion since this was announced that it was going to be a dumb assed money grab. Hacked together by cheesy film makers.

This new news about Affleck is the first interesting thing I have read so far. My interest has grown, but only on a molecular level.

Re: Man of Steel 2 (Superman/Batman--Official title to be confirmed)

I guess it could be worse, could be George clooney... Hahahahahah

I'd much rather he directed the next solo bat-flick. Seems much more suited to his style from what I can make of it so far.
