Hmm. Maybe they made some physical bits and bobs for CGI reference?

I don't expect anyone to sit through the DVD special features for that movie to find out. :lol Heck, I don't even know if it has any.

I remember seeing some behind the scenes pics somewhere where they did indeed, have a large sculpture (fully painted I think) of the Assassin Pred to use as reference in shots.

The more I look at this new pic of Feral Predator, the more I like it overall, however, the head does look undersized. Looks odd.

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. I really hope this fresh take on the franchise reinvigorates it.
It'd be nice if they manage a good film but reinvigorates the franchise with a view to what....that off the back of it they make another slew of diminishing return sequels? In all likelihood repeating the same pattern we've already seen?

Then again, they seem determined to keep making these movies even in a scenario where the last one was universally reviled so - good or bad, the IP must continue to be exploited.

I'm expecting the face to be divisive; look at the size of the lower mandibles.

However I'm digging the vibe Feral has going on. He's packing some cool new looking weapons which he hopefully utilises in the film. Regarding the mandibles, yes they are huge however they look pretty cool with the whole half mask thing going on. Reminds me of the mutant bear from Annihilation.

After the abominations from "Predators" and "The Predator" it would be nice to have just well done normal Predators. They've never looked right after Pred 2.
At this point though, they may as well go nuts.
Can't be worse than the Berzerker thing or that Cgi mess.
Is it ADI again though? They just can't get the Predator mandibles right.

Yep, it's ADI again. There's no chance they get the mandibles right, therefore as you said, the creative team may as well go nuts with the facial design.

KNB made the Predators suits. The designs are actually pretty cool (they have definitely grown on me over the years). Berserker looks good in production photos however the face/ mandibles were poorly executed in live action.

I wouldn't mind seeing different time periods in history when/where the Predators hunt. I don't want to see the protagonist win each and every time either.

Your mileage may vary.

Sounds like you'd enjoy a lot of the comics / graphic novels!

If they go the anthology route -- which I sincerely hope they do -- I'd be content.

I wish Disney had similar attitudes regarding merchandising.

I was just thinking it's about time we see a Predator win for once. (Probably won't happen in this one though).
I mean, sure they shouldn't win always, otherwise we humans would be an easy hunt/kill and they wouldn't come to our planet anymore. But every once in a while one should be victorious (although not without a scratch) to prove that winning is possible and we are going to give them a good hunt.

I also love the idea of seeing them in different periods in history. Imagine a WWI type setting in these muddy, wet trenches where people are being hunted and killed. At first they blame the other side, but then slowly realise it can't be because no way someone could cross no man's land to gruesomely kill someone and happily walk back. Then they begin to suspect eachother making for some great psychological thriller, all the while the Predator keeping illusive and barely seen like in the original. During the movie the characters suspect something else is going on culminating in a final battle in which the Predator may actually win. Of course there will be a poor survivor on the human side who witnessed it all. Some previously injured character that didn't have a weapon and any fight in him. Gives a whole new meaning to Shellshock. Come to think of it, that could be the name of the movie.
