Not even Toyswonderland have pre-orders open for Hot Toys figures anymore. I wonder, who should I contact about this issue? Would like to hear/read Sideshow and Hot Toys official stance in this issue.

My guess is that their stance is probably that Sideshow is the official distributor for North America and that these other sellers were not authorized by HT to sell to the NA market. Maybe they looked the other way for a while but have decided to put their foot down as these sellers have become more popular.

Just speculation, of course, but thats how distribution works sometimes. For example, Popcultcha carries certain products that they can't ship to North America because that's what their agreement with the manufacturer dictates.

I imagine Justin from Justin's Collection will have better information because TW is where he gets his products.

I'll be passing on this figure, since I don't see any significant improvements over the older figures that I still have - with the exception being the light-up sonar head, which might be superior to the current "giraffe neck" look of the DX02 (though it's not all that bad on the Armory body). I might pick that up separately, rather than spend $300 on a redundant figure.

Some have said this figure has a more accurate cowl - but even looking at side-by-side pics, I'm hard-pressed to tell the difference. Looking at my figures on the shelves, I can't see anything about the cowl shape that stands out as being inaccurate or problematic. In fact, looking at the side-by-side pics, I think I prefer the look of the old figure - the new cowl looks a bit too wide, which gives the eyes a more cartoony look to me, even if some claim it is more accurate.

I'm happy for collectors that have the ability to add a Bale Batman to their collection at a more affordable price than the secondary market would allow (though it's still super expensive!). I started having a large enough disposable income to get into collecting right when HT upped their game in 2009 with the Bank Robber Joker, so I got in on the ground floor (brand new figures were less than half the price they are now!) and consider myself lucky for it, timing-wise.

I do wish HT would give us Batman Returns Penguin and Catwoman - I'd imagine the "missed opportunity" of re-releasing a figure that many already have, rather than a figure that hasn't been made (but was teased) is what really drives a lot of resentment on the part of older collectors towards these "re-releases."

I still see this figure for pre-order on Toys Wonderland, Moff Gideon to.

Mailed one of the Hong Kong sellers. Hot Toys and Sideshow are supposedly forcing them to stop selling Hot Toys figures. Weird move by Sideshow, guess the market doesn't like their monopoly prices and shifted towards the smaller HK sellers.

If Sideshow lowered their prices by ~5% and the ridiculous shipping fees(60USD for a regular figure) then consumers would probably go back to ordering with them.

Can you tell us which seller? I have a bunch of POs with Toys Buying Agent.

I'd say Saintv is pretty close. But please don't go shaking the beehive and potentially making it worse for everyone !!

If this is true, Sideshow are being dicks at this point. Now, their rewards points expire after a year and can't be used for merchandise of $50 and below.

This is proof SS is a s*** company. Rather than modify their business strategy/model to entice new customers to buy from them, what they do instead is resort to mob tactics and go after the "little guy"/small businesses that aren't price gouging their customers.

I say good riddance to SS! Despite their mob efforts to shut down the smaller guys, I STILL WON'T buy from them! The fact that they're being stingy on the reward points is just icing on the cake.

Down with Sideshow! :exactly:

My understanding is that Timcent is still operating on ebay - although I can't see that because shipping to Ireland was disabled and for some reason that means all his listings have disappeared for me - that's why I messaged him the other day to enquire what was up - he directed me to his Toys Buying Agent page only for that to get shut down the very next ****ing day :gah: But can anyone confirm that Timcent still has all his listings on ebay?

How does sideshow have any power on who sells what? That makes no sense.

Maybe check it out on geo-ship.com, you should be able to see all eBay listings there even if they don't ship to your location.

I can see it because Hot Toys probably sells a crap load through Sideshow. Obviously don't have any numbers but I have to imagine Sideshow's distribution for basically the rest of the world outside China, Hong Kong, and Japan makes up a lot more of their sales. Especially for stuff like Star Wars that doesn't really sell in China.

If you have negotiated a sole distribution licence to sell new Hot Toys into USA and Europe which equates to a monopoly, then that's how it makes sense.

And as gmoney has pointed out, they are now using bullying tactics on the small guys.

There's a reason why governments set up non-monopoly laws for big companies. But this goes under the radar as they are too small in the bigger scheme of things.

Wow so first SS cuts allotments to other US based retailers (online and brick and mortar) to try to force folks to buy directly from them and now they're completely shutting down overseas sellers too? For real crap move by them. This along with their new rewards policy is just further reason for me to no longer buy direct unless I absolutely want an EX item.

It's unfortunate the strategy seems to be to monopolize rather than compete. I do most of my business with BBTS because tax is based on my state, not theirs, and the flat rate shipping of $4 is hard to beat. Sideshow tax and shipping come to nearly $40 on a standard 1/6 product, that's just unappealing as a consumer.

It’s funny, 10 years ago when Sideshow became official distributor of Hot Toys and started carrying DC/WB products (I believe Hot Toys Reeve Superman and the Toy Fairs Batman were the first figures they were able to sell directly), we were all over the moon and excited.

Now over those 10 years, that excitement has completely eroded. Charging for extra box protection, jacked shipping costs, selling damaged/returned product to unknowing customers as “new”, the relationship with this forum, the expiration date on codes, the way they handle competition, they’re just digging themselves into a hole.

I’ll probably never buy from them again.

Despite what was said earlier in this thread Toys Wonderland are still selling Hot Toys. They still have this figure for pre-order and put the just revealed Cyberpunk figure up earlier today.

I have a question about the pre-order on sideshow, I am from Brazil, when I make the pre-order reservation do I have to have a confirmed address or can I confirm when the item is ready to ship?
