Feels like a good time to bring this thread back, given everything going on with this line right now.

What we know:

Release imminent (just waiting on packaging)
-Asmus Gandalf the White
-Asmus Gollum

In production
-Asmus Boromir 2.0
-Asmus Thranduil 2.0
-InArt Gandalf the Grey

In Development
-Asmus Frodo 2.0
-Asmus Gil-Galad
-Asmus Haldir
-Asmus Merry 2.0
-Asmus Pippin 2.0
-Asmus Samwise 2.0
-InArt Aragorn
-InArt Legolas

In development hell
-Asmus Lurtz

Very exciting stuff on the horizon. What else is everything hoping for as we move forward?

Disclaimer: do NOT start another flame war in here or I will tag @Asta and @DarthSnoopy to have posts removed. Everyone’s stated their opinions three times over about their stance on each company. Let’s just appreciate that we have a chance to build both a high quality and deep collection here. Not every line gets anywhere close to that.
Hi there everyone.
Concerning Boromir 2.0, there is plenty of informatiom on its own thread,
but what is known about Asmus Frodo 2.0, Merry 2.0, Pippin 2.0, Samwise 2.0 and Thranduil 2.0?
Particularly, how to be so sure there will 100% CERTAINLY be 2.0 Merry & Pippin?
Further questions: which capes will these new hobbits carry? What about the Elven daggers?
What about the sculpts & rooted hair? These questions also apply to Sam & Frodo (let us all
hope for proper eye & skin colours this time...,.).

Concerning Thranduil, & as far as I know, there have already been revisions of the
original, armoured version. What is known about this new one?

Thx

I am hoping the 2.0/3.0 hobbits come with both capes, the Weathertop blades and the Lothlorien knives and that both Sam and Frodo also have their walking sticks. My guess is sculpted hair. I could be wrong but I cannot see mass produced rooted hobbit hair styles coming out well.

We don't know any of that. And unless Asmus decides to fill us in, we won't.

All that's known is that Asmus stated they would be remaking all four hobbits. There's nothing about what outfits or accessories they'll come with. If it's like Boromir, it'll be (much needed) head sculpt upgrades and most everything else will be the same.

It's long been believed that Thranduil won't be armored this time. Throne room attire is likely.

Asmus has switched over to not showing prototypes and just going straight to production, so unless the rep from Asmus can fill us in, we're all going to find out the answers to your questions together.

Asmus’ exact wording regarding the Hobbits was ‘The 4 hobbits will not be in a Crown series, but we have them re-released in 3.0.’

This just sounds like a straight rerelease but we can’t rule any new accessories out. I’ve got all the originals so would obviously rather just buy an upgrade set that re-buy everything.

Unfortunately we can rule out Merry and Pippin’s armoured looks and Frodo & Sam Mount Doom variants which are what I’d really like to see.

Why so sure about those different versions of the hobbits that you want, not being these 3.0ers?

I see...... Anyway, no rooted 2.0 Boromir, right...? :-(

Thx

Because they said re-release. That means it’s the same thing again. Maybe with some tweaks here and there but definitely not the terminology you’d use for all new iterations of the characters.

This is correct.

I think we can all agree many of Asmus early sculpts, especially the hobbits, needed to be better. No one in their right mind should criticize the outfits and accessories from Asmus, they’ve always been great. But they’ve needed improvement in the likeness/paint game. Now that they’re making strides there (figures like Bilbo, Theoden, Elrond and the new Legolas are proof of that), they’re revisiting some older figures that needed improvements.

I think a lot of people passed on some early figures like Aragorn, Gandalf the White, the hobbits, Boromir and Faramir, etc because of the likenesses. These re-releases help those people catch up on the line, as well as give Asmus the opportunity to redeem themselves with the community after a few misfortunes recently.

They have expressed a desire to make new characters like Haldir and Gil-Galad, even Lurtz despite it being in development hell. I think many would like to see some new stuff, but perhaps after that they can look into armored looks for Boromir, Faramir, the hobbits, etc

Yes, the early figures’ likenesses was what kept me from getting Asmus for a while. I finally dipped my toes in with the Frodo and Sam slim versions, still a little tad unsure, but since then I’ve been loving the releases I’ve picked up.

Oh sorry. Of course. Thanks.
So everything seems to depend on the real meaning of "3.0", but we don't even know for sure if the 4 hobbits
will get new sculpts.....

Any particular reason why Asmus no longer shows WIP pics?

We actually have all the 3D modles sculpted and made.
we just don't feel ready to produce a figure at this size with premire quality.
if it is only statue, we would have it out years ago.
@Asmus is there a possibility Lurtz is at a stage where the Team are confident to move forward into production with him?

Just a sign that Lurtz and the Uruk Hai body you were developing haven't been abandoned altogether would be good news at this point.

Yes, it would be the focus for the next phase of our LOTR series.
However, we are not receiving well from the licensee. I do not know why, but many of our LOTR projects are put on hold for this reason.
(Warner Bro... I think they have their hands full right now.)

So you’re trying to get permission to make certain characters and they are saying no?

What other LOTR projects, can you say, have been put on hold?

Is this because of InArt?

What could Warner Bros have their hands full with?

Hoping you guys get a greenlight soon as I know Lurtz is 1 figure most fans are clamouring for!!!
