The notion that Hot Toys just made up a new face for this figure because Affleck didn't sign off on the use of his likeness is plain stupid. Likeness rights for merchandise are baked into every contract these days. If the figure's been made, they have the right to use his face.

It's just a bad sculpt, probably based off scant reference materials for a bit part that was filmed years ago and painted over with crappy CGI. If Affleck's approval affected this figure at all, I'm willing to bet he just didn't care about how it looks.

Unfortunately, that’s not how it works. As other members have pointed out, there’s no mention of Affleck what so ever in the figure specs. HT is just hoping the majority of people don’t care and will overlook it for the bat bike anyway.

n the trailers, the Batfleck scenes that we know were filmed by a double have a lazy cgi on the face and cowl... maybe it's to hide some spoiler and this ends up having a reason?
It's not to hide anything. Affleck has talked about not wanting to have to do all that work again and I'm almost certain one of his conditions for coming back was not having to do any sort of intense training or muscle building this time. The motorcyclist is obviously a stuntman, but I wouldn't be surprised if whatever other brief action scenes Ben's Batman has are either CGI or another stunt performer.

I'm good with my JL version, it has the only Affleck unmasked HS and while not as cool as the BvS suit, it is 100000 better that this abomination. Might just get the bike when it eventually goes on sale.

WB/DC desperately needs some new costume designers.
They desperately need an enema.

Are filmmakers terrified of literally translating suits to live action? Aside from perfection like Holland's latest suit, Reeve, Andrew Garfield's ASM2 suit, Keaton's suits from 89 and 92, and the BvS suit, almost everything else tries too hard to deviate too far from the source.

He's very pro-Snyder, but the guy stated that in the short time he has on the film he finally figured out how to play the character well. We'll see... and he physically he only trained for BvS the first time. It may even be Warner itself that does not want to give up the image because of the reset they are going to do...

I find it odd a company known for their amazing and accurate likeness' decides to make a figure without the likeness of the actor that plays the character.
Yea the only time I remember something like this happening is forever ago with the HT Edward Scissorhands. They also didn’t have Depp’s likeness rights to do the sculpt, so they just made one up for the figure

The armor looks best in a standing pose and/or works best with the Batcycle.

Yes, there is the larger issue at hand.

But at least it seems like everyone is in agreement for once: winner of Worst Batman Suit ever award.

Nothing like bringing fans together. :)
Tbf this one might survive 12 rounds Rocky 2 style when fighting the "Gotham" suit to the death for that title

I mean, if that were the case then it’d be weird that they’ve made Keaton’s Batman the centerpiece of the marketing or that Affleck is pretty prominently featured in the trailers and TV spots. If there really is a likeness issue and not just HT dropping the ball, then I imagine it’s from his camp. There were similar rumors recently about Andrew Garfield not approving his likeness to be used on No Way Home toys or something.

This would be a middling somewhat mediocre suit if not for the weird honeycomb parts which just look like chicken wire and make him look like Scrapman.

Don't really know what the costume designers were thinking aside from just being different.

Figure doesn't help the suit at all since it's extra chunky; both the figure overall and the honeycombs.

I'm looking at more set photos and I feel Hot Toys batcycle is underscaled relative to the figure. It's hard to be sure though as there isn't a side view photo of the cycle with the figure riding it.

I thought the same. The Batcycle looks underscaled but not surprising with Hot Toys at this point.

Dimensions are 56.5cm L x 16cm W x 20.5 cm H (22.2" x 6.3" x 8.1"). It's only 2.5cm (@1") shorter in length than the Bat-Pod while being 4.5 cm taller (I'm assuming with the flaps up), so even if it's slightly undersized it'll take up plenty of space in our collections.

The top of the belt shouldn't go past above the bike when Batman is standing up if based on the stunt double. From the HT promo shots, the bottom of the belt is above the bike.
