So disappointed by this. I own the Dx19 and wanted to have both of them. A custom cape and a new cowl are more money invested in a non cheap figure. Guess I will see it in person an decide what I will do. It will arrive in Spain aorund March/April, hope new cowls and capes are announced in the meantime.
I'm in the same boat man. I was really excited for this. It needs too much custom work to look good. I would rather use that money on something else. This figure ain't cheap to begin with.

It seems like a decent number of “First Batch” patrons have this figure in hand already, so I’m wondering why Justin’s video review is conspicuously absent. I definitive critical review could boost his credibility quite a bit, and this one seems like a lay up for that.

So I can’t help wondering if he’s laying off this figure so as not to have a hand in depressing sales for it at TW. I certainly hope that’s not the case, but Justin prides himself one being among the very first set of reviews for any new figure that drops and so far nothing…

Well to be fair (and something a lot of new FB groups collectors don't realize) is that Justin is a business first and foremost. He reviews figures that will bring him benefit either from companies, the algorithm or from fans and that's a brilliant business strategy and shows why he's successful. He doesn't really have all of your interest in mind despite him being a collector himself and while I'm not a fan of his videos or his reviews, I can respect how he has managed to capitalize the modern superhero-obsessed culture and greatly benefit from it. If he doesn't benefit from reviewing the figure, he probably won't do it.

Maybe I'm an old moron, but I do miss those Youtuve home video-style reviews from the mid 2000's where someone with their shaky cam reviews stuff like old MMS136 Terminator, or the old Tumbler, the Chris Reeves supes etc because you can tell there's a lot of passion and giddiness put into them, as apposed to HT fans today that put their video out in hopes of views, subs and engagement. Uh #justsaying

Hot Toys has been releasing almost a figure per day for weeks now, and reviews take time to do. Maybe he won’t do this one but I wouldn’t read anything in to Justin not having done it yet. He also doesn’t yet have reviews for Doc Brown, Iron Strange, Forever Batman and Robin or Battling Version Spider-Man.

Great points. I think the bottom line is to take what value you can from the reviews that are out there with your feet firmly planted in the knowledge of what they truly are, vehicles for the poster to be successful however they personally measure success. I can live with that. But I agree, I do find myself missing those days before these reviews were so heavily monetized and were more about the passion of the hobby. There is some of that still out there, and I’m not even saying that guys like Justin are passion free, just that their priorities lie in what does the most good for them….like all of us.

I think I remember the 2011 TF having variation in the suit finish - some looked really dried out while others were fine. Perhaps with this one it is the reverse:lol

FWIW I think the first night out look looks decent enough.

I got mine in today.

This is coming from a person who didn’t have the toy fair version.

I think the hate is blown out of proportion. Is this thing perfect? No. No hot toy is perfect.

Is the suit shiney? Yes and no. It doesn’t look like someone wiped it with 303 wipes. But if you shine a nice bright light to it for photos. Yea it’s going to show on the suit. Would have been nice with the matte finish, but it is what it is.

The cowl. Yea, it’s really the worst part of the figure. But check this out. You can lean it forward and get they brooding looking down look everyone wants. Criminal that it didn’t come with rolling eyes. But the cowl isn’t accurate. Am I willing to spend another 300 for unreals sculpt? Unless you’re infatuated like dean knight, nah.

The body, needs to have a fat suit underneath. It doesn’t help the rubber suit. Some were wondering if it’s waist high? Futz the belt, but you can only futz so much due to the the fact that the bodies crotch is high up.

Boots are fine, accessories are fine. Damn shame that headsculpt is the dx19 headsculpt. Box set of great.

The cape, yea it’s the second worst thing about the figure, but it’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be. I can pose it draped over the shoulders and create that Batman silhouette . There are a total of 4 wires. Two on the front sides of the cape, and two on each side on the back. I’m not a fan of wired capes at all, so I will be getting a custom.

Overall, my honest opinion on this. 7-10. If you’re obsessed over Batman begins like dean knight and believe that begins is the greatest of all time, then this won’t be for you and you all can circle jerk each other off while watching him waste his time hate reviewing this figure. The hate is completely overblown due to really bad futzing and picture taking by people who have taken no time with the figure.

I’ll take pics when I think I’m done with what I can. But I think I’d be wasting my time trying to convince some of you on this. But i do understand your frustrations. F3261C52-213F-4C16-B9B9-A1DC8A86A6C5.jpeg

Which makes you susceptible to what I would call ''new toy excitement'' bias. I'd probably have it too if I opened up that Mezco Predator I'm planning to return.

No, it's not due to bad picture taking and people not futzing - that can be and is often true of certain brand new figures. We'll soon be seeing this spectacularly in action when Inart Jokor comes out.

But that's not the problem here - this isn't a brand new figure. Most, if not all, of the people who are hating this release basically already have this same figure. Different MMS number maybe, but same figure. We essentially already know what it's like to have this in hand. Therefore first in-hand pics & reviews don't come into it in the way you're suggesting. All those early pics did was confirm that Hot Toys changed nothing - and that is the reason people think this is a crap release. People have been crying out for a brand new (from the ground up) 1/6 Batman Begins figure for many years and this is what Hot Toys puts out instead. An outdated 14 year old figure - somewhat acceptable if you've not had the previous ones (ahem) but utterly facepalm-worthy to everyone else. Hot Toys could have captured a much bigger audience here. Why did they choose not to try?

It didn't seem like you did based on certain other things you said.

Look I'm not trying to stop you enjoying your new figure but if you're going to comment on how other people feel about it and talk about them circle-jerking eachother I do feel compelled to respond.

If I pick this up I definitely will look into a custom drape Cape

The material used on Dx19 is actually quite decent

Regarding the belt being high and tight, was this the figure everyone left unclasped at the back and used bread ties/wire to lengthen it? So many damn Batman mods over the years I can't remember what went where.

I may get a spare Wayne head and dig my old TF out of the closet to freshen that up a bit. Don't know why I didn't think of that before.

Oh yeah. I was hoping that this one would be better.

Nah, that was the Enterbay Batman.

Not sure if this has been posted but here’s a photo from Reddit. The photo is a bit compressed here so you’ll need to click on the link for the true proportions.

Botmon's scowling faceplate looks like he's having a hard time holding in that inevitable diarrhea.
It really is an ugly face plate. Just not a good expression, similar to the duck lips from the DX19 lol. Idk why these incredibly goofy face plates are included.

i already started my return this morning ( i dont need to see anymore videos or photos , this not a $296 figure for my display) , unopen box at sideshow. Ill let you guys know how it goes once sideshow reached out back to me regarding the refund request of "no longer want" they said it can take 2-3 days to be contacted
