Lol just check my account history it seems I have 50% cancellation rate with them :lol ...well doesnt matter I wont be pre-order much from them anymore.

well but I do agree BBTS should have gone with NRD instead of punish their customers like this.

Punishing someone with a 50% cancellation rate is justified. No punishment is too bad actually. They should ban people like you. They are running a business and idiots are being totally irresponsible ordering figures they don't intend to keep.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

Punishing customers??? If they don't want people canceling then they should start doing more nrd's. In this case with yondu it's their fault as they didn't get enough for everyone. As a retailer they are responsible for not taking more customers than they can provide for. Don't dress up the facts it's their mistake.

Dont getting harsh tough guy, out of mine 10 POS from them, 5 were listed "in stock" so that 50% rate is not correct from previous post. I have only canceled
one Hot Toys Emperor, one royal guard and one 1/6 Coo samurai model, and 2 small 1/10 figures.

Thanks to this thread I will go back with SideShow to pre-order stuffs, at least they have policy and do warn people and im fully aware what Im dealing with.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

BBTS jacks up the price when they have a hot item in stock. They have no moral grounds to stand on. Never shopping there again.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

My favorite part of all of this is just how personal people are taking the fact that buyers are using BBTS's policies as they are listed and advertised. Off the high horse, you're (not directed at a single user) no better than anyone here. No upfront cost, pay when it arrives, cancel anytime - it's right under the add to cart button. Their T&C even says if you abuse the POL system (aka arrives and cancels) after LONG TERM holds often, you'll lose the privilege. But none of this naughty list stuff.

And all that being said and all things considered, BBTS clearly only receives X allotment of figures. How do we know this? They pre-sell out, so they do not order based on pre-order volume like other retailers. That must mean they have an internal cap. Let's go further - you know when figs come back in stock after they sell out? They get a nice, beefy mark up from BBTS. Gladiator Thor never came into stock when he arrived, totally sold out on round one; two weeks later had a $100 mark up and was available.

HT times have changed as well, with the production numbers so much lower, BBTS has sold out of a vast majority of new releases. Not a single Iron Man armor has lingered, Yondu, Thor, all of them gone. BBTS may have gotten stuck with things for a time, but that's largely a thing of the past. And if they do linger, the second SS sells out, BBTS follows shortly after.

I cancel with them, and I'm not ashamed to say I do. Maybe I'm on the naughty list, I dunno. But I will continue to support them over SS any day because I believe in their model outside that. BBTS has gotten most of my stateside purchases in the last 5 months and I will continue to buy from them. Never have I had a damaged box, I've had fast, affordable shipping, and quality service when I needed it. All things that SS has waffled on frequently.

BBTS is actually sitting on some healthy Hot Toys stock right now and that includes Iron Man armors. Whether that is because of their own internal cap policies or they ordered too much or they had lots of cancellations, who knows?

Part of it is also BBTS' own practices with cutting their stock. They don't often have sales, and it's clear they're trying to get rid of the Hot Toys stock at full price by offering the "$XXX BBTS Store Credit" along with the item. I don't think this practice is working and they'd have more success trying to lower prices to compete with markets like eBay and forums rather than offering extra credit.

If they're going to institute new policies such as these, I don't fully blame them, but they should make customers AWARE publicly on their website (which they likely won't...they'll lose too many potential customers) and perhaps re-analyze their own processes with getting rid of excess Hot Toys stock.

I am sure the excess hot toys stock is caused by people ordering then cancelling. They needs to harshly weed out those people.

The excess stock is from figures that flat out suck. Go check out the SS & BBTS sites. Dead stock. BBTS ordered too many bad figures. Nothing to do with people cancelling.

All the big toy companies got greedy from Hot Toys manufacturing way too many figures to Sideshow & BBTS ordering way too many.

Don’t blame customers for unwise business decisions.

Lots of BBTS fanboys and most likely BBTS employees defending them. Once word gets out they’ll lose a lot of business.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I understand BBTS and toy shop's perspective on this, but I don't necessarily agree with how they handle it. If you (the vendor, like BBTS) have pre-orders for 30 items...and you order 35 from the distributors (they have cut-off order dates, etc.). Then in the interim from right before you receive the items and start charging your customers, 15 people cancel...you're stuck on an excess of 20 stock items. You've already PAID the distributor so they don't care...and they're likely not going to accept returns (I don't know Sideshow's and Hot Toys' policies with the local distributors). You ordered enough and a little extra for what you anticipated are your committed customers...but now your profit margin as at a loss because your customers backed out and you already paid the distributor for the items. You got to look at it from the business perspective. Sideshow realized this a while ago and that's why they (and some others) instituted their NRD policies.

I'm sure there's some collectors here that pre-order from BBTS WAY MORE Hot Toys than they ever expect to actually buy. I'm guilty of it in the past but am now just pre-ordering what I intend to buy.

Once again, I'm not saying I agree with BBTS' "behind the scenes" policy...but I understand why they're implementing it. However they should be more "open" about this policy and maybe they'll cut-down on unwanted excessive pre-orders. Additionally, they should look at OTHER ways of getting rid of excess Hot Toys stock of crappy figures, like massive discounts rather than store credit. Hot Toys has gone from starting out with $80-$100 for standard figures to $200+ for a standard figure...those prices are certainly going to affect your sales.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

Such a shame this excellent figure's thread has become the BBTS policy discussion thread. I know it happened on Yondu's watch, but still... hope people can find this guy elsewhere. Get the regular if you can -- the figure alone is so worth the price.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

The best way to handle is NRD plain and simple. Use your $4 shipping to attract certain customers that will help compete against SS and protect you from constant cancellations. To not tell customers this will happen is bad business. Their a big company and should know better.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

I just got done reading through the last several pages, interesting situation. On one hand you have a company that kind of hosed some folks. But on the other hand you have said folks complaining about being unfairly punished when they just received a taste of their own medicine, there is a bit of irony in that.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

What's wrong with getting store credit versus a discount? I use the credit to buy another figure, and get a $100 discount. Seems like a decent deal to me.

It's not necessarily a bad deal..it's just that from the observational stand-point, it APPEARS that BBTS is still sitting on a lot of excess Hot Toys stock that they've offered the promotional credit option with...so the promotional credit option isn't working out as well as let's say...a normal discount might. Looking at some of the figures and then seeing the quantities, I notice that the max of 10 is there for a few of them (even after putting them in my "cart"). While the promotional credit might entice regular customers...those that don't care for the credits aren't going to bite. And in some cases, people might be willing to pay $200 for a Hot Toys figure that normally retailed for $300 regardless of the promotional credit.

Also, with BBTS you cannot choose what you attach the promotional credit towards...per the description: "Store credit will automatically apply to your next in-stock purchase, pre-order arrival, or can be used towards tax/shipping". Maybe I want my credit to go towards a Hot Toys pre-order I'm waiting on rather than some Marvel Legends I pre-ordered...but since the Marvel Legends come out first, I'm stuck with my credit going there instead.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

The sooner that in-store credit is used the better, I say. Don't want to linger too long and end up having them change what you can use the credit on. Maybe you'll find you got $100 in credit only useable on bobbleheads.

No. They will lose the idiots who order then decide if they actually want the figure. Losing those types of "customers" is actually a positive.

Chill out. There are things far worse than people canceling toy orders. But it’s a pretty shady business tactic to cancel your customers order without being prepared or letting them know ahead of time.

I see your point. I was unaware the credit couldn't be saved, as I caught up on some HPP armors when it was first announced, buying them one at a time, waiting for the credit to post, and buying the next one I wanted. I actually just ordered Ultron Mark 1 and used the credit to buy Scarlet Witch. I checked on eBay for completed listings and it was cheaper doing it that way than buying both preowned. Since I open mine, I don't care if another nerd has had them in their deltof for a year, lol, but it still was better on the wallet buying new. It's just a shame I'm in one of two states BBTS charges taxes in, or my savings would be even greater.

I did notice that some figures were previously discounted, and then put back to retail once the credits were attached. Now THAT would have been a deal.

Re: 1/6 Hot Toys – MMS - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: Yondu Collectible Figure

The thought of not getting your preorder will be too much for many collectors out there as word spreads.

The money's not in the one-off purchase someone makes for their kid at Christmas for a company like this; its from constant collectors who buy multiples and often. If those customers feel their orders are in jeopardy or that they may be waiting on long delays, I doubt they'll stick around. Shaking out a few mass cancellers is one thing -- but you don't want to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Time will tell how this awkward year for BBTS fairs for them.
