Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Ok guys the seller has said he will find and mail me a replacement DCD Batch DX02 body with hard plastic abs :) I sincerely hope this happens. Its such an AMAZING Figure! Again Id like to thank all the members of this community for extending their help and their insight and support! Thank You :)

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

It doesn't have a beer belly. It's just that the soft rubber armor allows the waist articulation to telescope through if posed in a certain way.

I never had an issue with mine.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

That's great news Ax.I can get the MMs1 today or wait 3 weeks for the DX.mayb ill try to be paitent.lol

Thanks, and trust me its WORTH the wait. Figures like the DX02 come once in a lifetime, what makes it all the more alluring is that its from a movie which is a modern masterpiece in motion picture history...

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Nope. Not true. Claims of leaky abs in the DCD batch were very isolated cases, and evidence pointed to them just being excess lubrication from under the suit that was overzealously applied by Hot Toys employees when slipping the suit over the Trretype (rather than coming from the rubber of the plates themselves).

Take the hate blinders off.
Gonna have to defend mr Nam here. I'm proof that the abs can leak on the DCD DX02. The bicep armour plates too. Both of these started leaking a couple of months after opening, not straight out of the box. So I think that can trump the overzealous empoloyees theory! The oil actually appreared on the abs after the ab plates came into contact with the belt when the figure was in storage.

Of course it isn't as bad as earlier DX figures, nowhere near. The oil didn't cover the full plates like what we have seen in the past. It hasn't leaked since I wiped it off, thankfully! The arms have also been fine since I placed tissue under the armour.

Though Nam, you do hate this figure :lol

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

I got me a MMS 71 Batman this weekend and was thinking of getting the DX one. Now, I know the DX has the base and head. But what's the actual difference between the two bodies??? Is even worth getting the DX after I got the other one??

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

Still my all time fav figure. Just wished I knew about HT when they released the OC Bats.

The DX body is more slim actually MUCH slim than the MMS71 and honestly if you are planning to have only ONE New Suit figure I would suggest the DX but MAKE SURE its from the 3rd DC Direct Batch which has HARD PLASTIC ABS (ALL OF THEM). Its kinda no point IMO having both the MMS and the DX. To better illustrate the point here's a pic surely posted here quite often before:

How can hard plastic leak oil? That doesn't make any physical sense.

The oil actually appreared on the abs after the ab plates came into contact with the belt when the figure was in storage.

So the oil appeared on the abs. That doesn't mean it physically came from within the material of the abs.

The oil didn't cover the full plates like what we have seen in the past. It hasn't leaked since I wiped it off, thankfully! The arms have also been fine since I placed tissue under the armour.

The fact that the oil didn't cover the full plates, hasn't "leaked" again after one wipe, and didn't need tissue underneath (unlike your arms) is only more evidence that the oil isn't coming from the ab plates in your case. If it were, it would continue leaking even after you wiped it. If it were, you'd need to use the tissue to prevent the chemical reaction that pulls the oil from the abs.

The difference in bodies is in the size of the arms and belly.

If you decide you don't want a full new DX, but do want the heads, shoot me a PM. I think I've got an extra set of brand new DX heads.

I don't know. My take on it is that, if the area comes into contact with something else, it will leak. It would explain why the abs started leaking, after coming into contact with the belt and the arms started leaking, after coming into contact with the armour. That's my take on it anyway, as wierd as it sounds.

Since you're so quick to run with the fanboy "hate blinders" defense, allow me to explain the history contained in this very thread....

How can hard plastic leak oil? That doesn't make any physical sense.

No, it doesn't. Why? It wasn't the abs leaking, it's the suit proper. The method HT used to cure the rubber was flawed. The end result of not allowing it to cure properly is the compounds that make up the suit are literally separating. That's what the residue is on the abs and shoulder armor. It was the oil in the boots which was the result of too much lubricant. The abs and biceps are completely different. Get your facts straight.

So the oil appeared on the abs. That doesn't mean it physically came from within the material of the abs.

No it doesn't. It's oozing from underneath the abs, coming out of the suit itself.

Doesn't have to. Evidence of it being there at all, is proof the suit is breaking down into the different compounds used to make it. And whether it's wiped or not, will eventually cause irreparable damage.

In the future, might help to do a little bit of research before taking pop shots at someone who's been following this since getting his very first DX from the Asian run. Not only is the info here, but there's a whole thread about the leaking alone that's also here. While the poll is inaccurate (many started leaking after the time frame allotted), the thread itself chronologically follows the leakage and HT's failed attempts to stop it from batch to batch, from first release overseas, through the DC Direct batch.

The problem is whatever the liquid is it can saturate the plastic and stain it. The topic has been so beaten to death I'm not even going to search for it. Geil has loads of pictures of saturated plastic. It spreads like battery acid.

Mine had shown a damp patch on one of the abdominal plates after Hot Toys replaced it in June, 7 - 8 months later. The other figure remained flawless but there's no damage on this. I even looked in below the belly of the figure since it had been fitted with the clear transparency film by Hot Toys. Dry. Even taking the belt off, dry. I can't find it anywhere but it keeps coming back even to this day. Sometimes it takes a few days to show but it never glistens. It's like the effect from oily fingers from crisps touching a matte surface.

No, it doesn't. Why? It wasn't the abs leaking, it's the suit proper. The method HT used to cure the rubber was flawed.

The abs on batches 1 and 2, which were part of the suit, had improper rubber curing, which caused the leaking (a chemical reaction).

Hence the use of hard plastic in batch 3, which was not rubber and did not need curing, and thus did not leak. Meanwhile, the abs in all three batches used the same rubber, and do leak in all three batches.

It was the oil in the boots which was the result of too much lubricant. The abs and biceps are completely different. Get your facts straight.

My comment about too much lubricant may be confusion with the boots story and the abs. It's been awhile.

Nevertheless, the fact is that hard plastic will not leak since it does not need curing like rubber. Furthermore, this is backed up by the fact that most of the owners of the DX02 batch 3 have not reported leaking in the abs.

It's my understanding that most, if not all, replacements were not from the DCDirect batch (hence the clear transparency film). So unless yours is from the DCDirect batch, with the plastic abs, I'm not sure what your point is.

I'm not saying none of the DX02s leak, I'm just saying none of the DCDirect DX02s leak from the abs (at least, not directly from the abs, in the manner which batches 1 and 2 did).

There is no way that this winter is *ever* going to end as long as this groundhog keeps seeing his shadow. I don't see any other way out. He's got to be stopped. And I have to stop him.

My point?

April 2010, first of the DX02 DCD shipments. Toys2 and the such in small numbers.

May 26 all DCD boxes figures went retail. BBTS etc etc

End of May 2010, Hot Toys told me to send my bodies directly back to them after trying to get them to budge through Facebook.

June 11, I received my replacement figures from Hot Toys with plastic abdominal plates and all retail figures still have transparency film below the abdominal plates. Mine included. Hello hard stomach, hello click click, hello stiffy. Simples. ¬_¬

Apparently you didn't read the part where I had the figure for 6 - 7 months and it never showed any damp parts.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS DX 02 - TDK- BATMAN full spec and pics

The abs on batches 1 and 2, which were part of the suit, had improper rubber curing, which caused the leaking (a chemical reaction).

Incorrect. Again, it was the materials of the suit proper, not the abs. Hence why the hard plastic abs haven't done a thing to address the issue other than to cover it up a bit more. Instead of leaking from the abs, it now leaks from the sides.

Hence the use of hard plastic in batch 3, which was not rubber and did not need curing, and thus did not leak. Meanwhile, the abs in all three batches used the same rubber, and do leak in all three batches.

Again, incorrect. There are still reports of leaky abs on "batch 3" aka the DCD run.

Nevertheless, the fact is that hard plastic will not leak since it does not need curing like rubber. Furthermore, this is backed up by the fact that most of the owners of the DX02 batch 3 have not reported leaking in the abs.

Pics show otherwise. We've seen a grip of people who own the DCD spitefully ignoring that theirs even leaks because god forbid those who warned them are actually right. But again, despite the plastic abs, HT did nothing to address the issue of the biceps. We've already seen they're leaking as well.

It's my understanding that most, if not all, replacements were not from the DCDirect batch (hence the clear transparency film). So unless yours is from the DCDirect batch, with the plastic abs, I'm not sure what your point is.

You'd understand wrong. Looking at the time table, the replacement bodies were pulled from the same run as the DCD batch given the replacements started arriving just a couple weeks prior to the DCD shipping from retailers.

I'm not saying none of the DX02s leak, I'm just saying none of the DCDirect DX02s leak from the abs (at least, not directly from the abs, in the manner which batches 1 and 2 did).

Again you'd be wrong. Just a few posts prior, Platty reported that his is a DCD run and does, in fact, leak.

Haytil, arguing this is futile. All the proof we need to counter this is sitting right there in the leaky DX thread. I suggest you read it before making any further assumptions or stating any more incorrect facts.
