Re-watched the episode again. Honestly, it's not bad. It was actually quite good before the biker scene. It's not that the bikers were kids, it actually make sense to have the younger people who are usually lower rank do the dirty work. The problem is how the kids, more importantly the bikes, looked. If this episode is scored out of 10, making the young biker gang look more like the usual Tatooine locals would instantly give this episode a +2. I think it was Rodriguez that wanted to make them look like that.
For sure, it’s a nod to Alita: Battle Angel. They looked way too clean and polished for Tatooine and this type of grimy crime show. They’re supposed to be poor kids, yet they looked like a bunch of New Romantics with emotional problems.

I was afraid a series about Boba might not be best for the character, and that he might work better as a supporting/guest character, and its looking that way right now.
I said this last week. He was never meant to be the lead protagonist. Whatever happens in the remaining episodes (good or bad), it might not impact how good of a side character he could be in Mando series 3.

I wouldn't have minded just the girl to be honest. But the combination of the whole spy kids gang, and the lollipop scooters made it too much to bear lolz.
This right here. The girl in isolation was fine. The rest of the gang and their very non-Star Wars AND non-Tatooine apparel and bikes was dumb.

I agree with many here that this was the weakest episode so far. I didn't have a problem with any of the individual plot points or characters. I just think the storytelling and execution weren't so great. The pacing was also meandering, and some of the design choices invited more questions than they needed to. For example, the biker kids didn't bother me in concept, but they should have been rougher and wilder. They seemed very cosmopolitan and a bit posh (like rebellious rich kids). We should have also been given more insight into why Boba was interested in employing them. It's not like he had seem them in action beforehand. How did he know they would be a good addition to his team? How does he know they're trustworthy? It just seemed a bit random to me.

Some good things I liked and/or found interesting:
  • Black Krrsantan's electric knuckle spikes were cool. You know he'll show up again (both in the show and eventually our toy shelves).
  • The decimation of the Tuskan tribe was truly a surprise and was quite sad. I didn't see the female Tuskan warrior among the dead. I wonder if she somehow survived. If so, will we see her again?
  • Fennec continues to be a great wingman. I feel like her main purpose is to infuse some common sense into any situation while being bad ass at it.
  • The exchange with the Hutt twins was very intriguing. Why are they so quick to get out of Tatooine? Are they that afraid of the Pykes and the mayor? Are there other forces at work?

No ones talking about it, but I love how the Hutt Twin uses a white rat thing to mop off the sweat of his brow ! lol

Yeah the biker gang was meh, but I thought the episode was fine overall. I liked the little rancor nod to Courtship of Princess Leia haha.

Reactions to this show have been painfully predictable on this forum considering what was being said about the stuff in the commercials before the show came out. That woman on the bike had a target on her back here for weeks now. I knew she'd be panned.

The show is fine.
For me I like the bike girl character, its just I don't like the bike (that thing is too bright and out of place).

I'm fine with the biker kids. I think the actress playing the biker girl is definitely a standout, and her acting seems good. I just don't think they were set up well in the story.

I have to say that you brought up many points that I was going to post. I won't duplicate your points but agree with most.

Episode 2 gave me hope. Episode 3 brought me back down to questioning the direction and purpose of this show.

The biker kids were the worst part of this episode, for me. I found them completely out of place. Not just in how they looked but how they were written. I got a "let's have some cool teens in the show" type of nonsense with their inclusion. Perhaps if they had indeed been rougher and older, it may have worked better. The putt-putt Skittles Bikes didn't help, either. At least "Alita" isn't what I initially feared she would be but there's still episodes left. A good curve ball would be if the were involved in the massacre, leaving their sign and Boba wipes them out... Nah, Disney would never be so ruthless.

The "car chase" was atrocious.

I did like the Tusken scene. That's definitely going to lead to some good action. I hope.

The Black Wookie scene could have been much better. Did one of the Gammy's forget to close the palace's front door?... And why don't they carry blasters?

I'm expecting an "End Game" type of finale, with all of the characters befriended or given a second chance, to come to Boba's side at the final battle, while riding the rancor. I cringe just thinking about this.

Finally, if I had ordered the Boba/throne set and Fennec, I would have Fennec sitting on the throne and Boba standing on the side... Good thing I didn't order it.

I only have the Boba Deluxe set and Fennec on pre-order. I think I'll be staying with just those two.

I've said the same thing prior to the series starting, looking like we were right.

Anyone else thinking that the big plot twist of this will be that Boba did actually die in the Sarlacc and it's been Omega with a shaved head all along?

I would like some sort of plot..at all. We have no direction right now and we have only 4 episodes left, and its so damn disappointing.

I have enjoyed the majority of the show thus far except for parts of today's episode. You are accusing others of confirmation bias while exercising it yourself. People can have valid criticisms of valid negative aspects without the implication being a bigot.

So what part of a twenty year old street kid becoming Fetts main enforcer, (or one of them) strikes you as legit? Do you think she would be either feared or respected by serious gangsters?

Do you really think she carries the same gravitas as someone like Fennec, who has earned and proven her chops? Are other syndicates going to take the Anime Biker Gang seriously?

We iced the Tuskens and THIS is their replacement? A bunch of almost literal children? Dont make me laugh.

Its like if I personally went to Italy and read the head Mafioso of them all the riot act. Would that be respected? The whole group would snicker and then they would cut me in half with automatic weapons.

Deservedly.

It just doesn't bother me.
Well, if you actually wanted this to be a well-made show it should bother you lol. I have no problems with Boba incorporating a youthful street gang into his organization, but they should in no way be prominent members. If he utilized them as low-level informants who could be his eyes and ears in the town that would be fine, as would the young woman being the group leader who gradually gets more responsibility. But they should also blend into the environment rather than stick out like sore thumbs on those gaudy rides. It's not the characters themselves that are so off-putting, but rather the character design and BF's lack of a legitimate organization, be it criminal or other.

Boba and the Mod Squad

Totally agree. The problem wasn't a "biker" gang for enforcers it was that the look chosen form them totally pulled you out of the "Star Wars" world. And when we see them in action if was laughable. I guess we know what they needed so much water for now. Keeping those bikes and outfits clean and shiny must take a lot of work in an environment like that.

WE DONT NEED A JAPANESE ANIME SPEEDER-BIKE GANG IN THIS. These biker designs are just terrible. This is perhaps my biggest complaint, this whole biker gang thing.

Guess you haven't seen Akira. The bikers from that would have totally worked better here, both in design and intensity

Ok, maybe change the pink shirt in that second one (it was the 80's ha ha). But much better than that comical chase we got at the end of the episode.

I liked the first ep. Loved the second. Mostly liked the third, but some of those design choices were just beyond head scratching.

And wait, there's more! If this show is a fail overall, it will SIGNIFICANTLY impact my anticipation for Mando 3 and it will impact the level of confidence I have in how that show is being handled. I imagine I wont be alone in that.

All we need to see now is Qi-ra strolling into the Palace and telling Fett she knows how to handle Sith lords, and so Fett will be no problem. Stg if this ends up happening I am going to rage-stroke out right there in my chair.

[And no, she does NOT know how to handle Sith lords, and in a just universe Fett would punch her spleen out through her spinal column, for starters.]

How DARE!!!!??? they defang one of the SW universe's big-bads like this, I cannot WAIT to see what they do in the "Kenobi" series. What will they do to Vader, I wonder? Perhaps Maz Kanata can show up and best Vader in combat.
