Yeah, it wasn’t actually Jason Kilar in particular that pushed the Snyder cut but rather Kevin Reilly and Robert Greenblatt (https://www.washingtonpost.com/busi...veterans-bob-greenblatt-kevin-reilly-are-out/). They made the push and got it through, and then they left or were fired. And as we know AT&T later sold WB to Discovery, which adds even more to the overall strangeness of how all this went down. But anyway those of us that followed the story more closely could tell after a bit that Kilar probably wasn’t actually our knight in shining armor.

I don’t think anyone that is maintaining some hope about this… at least that I know... is saying they consider it more likely that Snyder returns to make JL 2 and 3 than not. It’s still firmly in longshot territory. But as Zack has said on several occasions now, it was actually far more unlikely that his cut of JL would ever get completed and be released than for a sequel (JL2 & 3) to be made. And he added words to the effect “so you never know…”

Myself, I’ve suggested two basic main scenarios. Either Zaslav a) breaks ranks with the old guard studio system by seeing the value of keeping the Snyderverse fandom active and engaged , or b) he sides with the old guard at WB.

I just want them to keep cavil as Superman as that is the most realistic scenario to happen.

I want the the sequels for sure, but I’d have a better shot winning the lotto.

I also want to add that this merger is not the saving grace at all. I wish people would see that.

Well, we’ll see, yeah. It‘s hard to imagine it getting much worse than what WB has done post BvS. (Although ironically as a Snyderverse fan, amazingly we did get MoS, BvS, and ZSJL.)

Imo the big question is whether Discovery (I presume this means David Zaslav) sees the value of keeping the Snyderverse fandom engaged. For the hopeful he’s said some things that could be very positive, namely 1) he sees Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman as hugely important properties, 2) WBD will “give fans what they want”, 3) he’s moving to LA to oversee the entertainment division in a “hands on” way. Oh, also his poster showed ZSJL prominently whereas WB has tried to bury it. But hey, by the trinity he could mean Battinson, Abrams‘ Val Zod, and another fail by Jenkins with WW3. We don’t really know.

TBH, I mean this as absolutely no offense to anyone here, but that's kinda what I'm getting at when I say fans reading into things. To me, saying the Trinity are a big deal and he wants to focus on them is not the same thing as saying he's gonna restore the Snyderverse. We're already getting a new Batman movie in just a few months, and if that's a hit, that'll be the core version they push going forward. Superman's in limbo but Abrams and Coates are reportedly still working on their version (which, as much as some fans dislike it, is currently the only Superman movie project with any sort of tangible development rn) and Gadot just said recently they're already working on the script for Wonder Woman 3. An emphasis on the Trinity does not specifically mean an emphasis on Zack Snyder's iteration of the Trinity, or indeed that iteration of the Trinity with Zack directing. In fact the DC banner at the WB studio tour lot is exactly what I was talking about in terms of highlighting the Trinity.

Not trying to dash any hopes here. Just saying I've seen this sort of behavior before and that it often just ends up being fans reading too much into things. How many people online were dead convinced Ben was officially back and returning for the Batgirl movie first because some idiots on Twitter convinced fans that JK Simmons looked like he wanted to say the name "Ben" in an interview? Or that the sequels were totally happening because Clay Enos or Zack or Henry posted something cryptic on social media? There's a certain level of conspiratorial thinking that often goes into online fandoms that while validated in some case (the release of the Snyder Cut at all obviously being the most triumphant example of that) often just turns out to be people seeing what they wanna believe. In that sense it's a bit of an ink blot test (pun not intended).

Anyway good to see Ben's seemingly happy with his exit.

I don’t think it’s even projection for me and most of the other fans I know here and on Twitter. If it does happen these are the indicators that support the notion, etc. It’s not far fetched if it does happen is more where we’re coming from. Right now WB is in charge and they are clearly hostile to Snyder and the Snyderverse fandom. Discovery (Zaslav) has said the usual things someone in his position would say. Is it dawning on him that he will disenfranchise a whole lot of fans if he drives that stake through the heart of the JL 2& 3? Who knows. We’ll get a clearer idea once Discovery takes the reigns in May.

I’m remembering when Ben Affleck appeared on Jimmy Kimmel to announce that he was retiring from the role of Batman. They retired his “Batfleck” jersey.🤣 Then he went on to appear in new footage Zack shot for the Knightmare scene in ZSJL and in the Flash. Take all this with a grain of salt.

If the suits at WB honestly believe that a Justice League made up of Supergirl and Batgirl replacing Superman and Batman will draw in fans and give them No Way Home box office, then they need to be committed to Arkham Asylum. The Birds of Prey film proved that a DC female superhero-centric film won't draw fans and create tons of box office, even with Harley Quinn as the main character. WB continues to be utterly clueless with what they want to do with Superman on the big screen which is just pathetic and a huge middle finger to Henry Cavill and his fans like myself. I look forward to Pattinson's Batman and hopefully he'll crossover with the other films eventually but it just sucks to no end that Ben is apparently done with the cowl. But this is all WB's fault.

WB is stupid they’ll green light a teen titans go movie before an actual teen titans movie. So I definitely understand how idiotic they are. They said Wonder Woman wouldn’t sell back in the day and so would flash. They have no belief in the characters. I don’t like snyders vision but at least he did something with the characters and gave them spotlight finally. If these idiotic decisions continue DC will be sold . Mark my words. Yes Batman is a hit but that can only take them so far.

At this point I just want Henry back as Superman. They’re wasting such a perfect opportunity. Is that too much to ask? Apparently it is. WB is very stupid indeed.

Glad others have already mentioned, Affleck has already quite definitively said he was done with the role, then came back to shoot additional for ZSJL and for Flash. And on both accounts has said how much he enjoyed it. If he has managed to finally figure out his character now as he said (traditional Batman) and it's received well he most likely would come back.

Regardless of Pattinson, to have a young, older (Keaton) and mid (Affleck) Batman going wouldn't be too far-fetched.

We'll just have to see if Discovery has any sense at all.

Amazingly, AT&T's Reilly and Greenblatt did see the value of the Snyder cut and got it through. I really don't think it's that far-fetched for JL 2 and 3 to get made. We have never gotten reliable info about just how well ZSJL did. For the sake of argument, it was fantastically successful in terms of views and social media discussion, cited as main reason for getting HBO Max when new subscribers were polled, etc., then surely David Zaslav has that info. It's really up to Discovery. The more I think about it they probably couldn't give two ***** what happens to WB's current regime. WB has basically fiddled while Rome burns. It's astonishing how inept they are. I want to think that Discovery can't wait to fire the current leadership. They've basically destroyed the DC brand.

I always find memes like this a bit funny because... y'all do know the franchise was considered a laughingstock well before all this, right?

I totally understand not being happy with the new direction, but there's a bizarre rewriting of history I keep noticing, like "Martha! Save Martha!" didn't become one of the top pop culture memes of 2016.

For the sake of fairness, Muschietti said a major part of Affleck coming back to film Flash was that the role was not a huge commitment. By all accounts Batfleck's part in the movie is small (but impactful). I'm not sure how much of the footage of him in ZSJL was new, but I don't think it was very extensive either (it was basically what, the Knightmare at the end and the conversation with Manhunter?) Again, not a major commitment.

That is a far cry from the role he'd have in the two Justice League sequels or a solo Batman movie (or ya know that HBO Max series the scoopers swore was totally happening!) In fact, given Affleck has now confirmed Flash is a send off, that sounds more like Harrison Ford agreeing to finally do another Star Wars movie so long as they promised to kill off Han Solo than it does Affleck secretly having a desire to keep playing Batman.

I still can't get over WB having running tv shows with heroes that should be exclusive to the big screen. It just muddles the characters and gives them the opportunity to outdo the movie iteration. You are just losing money on the movie side, which has a much bigger budget. They clearly went for every penny they could get.

Which just shows that all of it is a joke.
