What are your favorite horror movies? Feel free to include any Halloween-themed, sci-fi, slasher, creature, etc. or any film you deem so.

Admittedly I'm not huge into horror, but I do appreciate the genre and films.

My list so far, in no particular order, except 1 & 2:

1 - An American Werewolf In London
2 - The Descent (2005)
3 - The Thing (1982)
4 - Dog Soldiers
4 - The Fly (1986)
5 - Alien (1979)
6 - The Wolfman (2010)
7 - Jeepers Creepers
8 - Jeeperes Creepers 2
9 - The Ruins (2008)
10 - Don't Look Under The Bed
11 - Contagion
12 - Howl (2015)
13 - Christine (1983)
14 - Bad Moon
15 - The Terminator

Here are a couple that come to mind right now, in no particular order:

Ravenous
Mama
Bram Stoker's Dracula
Christine
Hellraiser
The Thing (82)
The Shining
Doctor Sleep

No particular order

The Exorcist
Psycho
Jaws
Halloween
Alien
Dawn Of The Dead
The Shining
An American Werewolf In London
A Nightmare On Elm Street
Evil Dead 2
The Fly
Poltergeist
Re-Animator
The Dead Zone
Gremlins
Near Dark
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me
The Thing
Videodrome

I normally do a big horror October viewfest but I’ve been a bit slack this year. Have watched and really liked X and The People Under The Stairs.

Nice idea!

My top 10 is probably;

1. The Thing (1982)
2. The Babadook (2014)
3. Psycho (1960)
4. Alien (1979)
5. Halloween (1978)
6. The Conjuring (2013)
7. Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
8. Scream (1996)
9. Rosemary's Baby (1968)
10. A Quiet Place (2018)

An honorable mention to a film that is not a horror film, but will now feature as an annual viewing during October and the spooky season;

The Batman (2022)

"Thursday, October 31st. The city streets are crowded for the holiday. Even with the rain. Hidden in the chaos is the element, waiting to strike like snakes.

And I'm there too. Watching.

2 years of nights have turned me into a nocturnal animal. I must choose my targets carefully. It's a big city. I can't be everywhere. But they don't know where I am.

We have a signal now, for when I'm needed. When that light hits the sky, it's not just a call - it's a warning.

To them.

Fear is a tool.

They think I'm hiding in the shadows.

But I AM the shadows."

Very fine lists indeed!

I won't repeat all the movies I love you guys have mentioned, but here's a few I would add:

- Nosferatu (both the Murnau original and Herzog's remake)
- Frankenstein ('31)
- The Witch

I like watching any of the old Universal Frankenstein movies this time of year. They just ooze Halloween atmosphere

Annual essentials:

Halloween 78
The Fog
The Thing
Scream 1/2
The Blair Witch Project
Dawn of the Dead 78/04
American Werewolf in London
Lost Boys
Candyman 92
Jacob's Ladder 1990
The Fog and Candyman are on my hit list this October also.

I did not like The Witch when I watched it but have subsequently loved everything else Eggers has done so I am sure I just wasn’t in the mood, he has a very specific tone. I will try it again sometime.
