Planet of the Apes, Jurassic Park, and Interstellar are three movies I own and enjoy to varying degrees that contain actual scientific theories within their narratives. There are dozens of other movies I enjoy set within the trappings of what appear to be science fiction settings but are just action movies or fantasy movies in space.

I was reminded of a movie I haven't seen in many years, Brainstorm with Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood. It has been a long time since I saw it, but I remember it being a favorite of mine as a kid.

In no particular order (mostly for their message rather than their final result of being made):
- Pitch Black, Chronicles & Riddick
- Logan's Run
- Terminator 1 & 2
- District 9
- Source Code
- Surrogates
- Scanner Darkly
- In Time (I know - I never thought I'd hear myself say it: Justin Timberlake! Good film tho)
- Total Recall - both versions
- Minority Report
- ALIEN (1 & 2 & 3)
- MATRIX Trilogy
- Blade Runner
- Old & new PLANET OF THE APES
