Not really any details at the moment. Contact DarkArtist81 about a Grumpy head though.

As for the novel, I just spotted it at my local library. I'm positive any bookstore like Barnes and Noble or Boarders or maybe even Wal-Mart and Target would have it. The poster of Batman looking out the window is the cover.

Wheres a cheap reliable spot to get this figure?

Ive seen the regular joker for 126 at an online retailer so they seem to be dropping in asking price.

Here's a V.1 Repaint:
repaint1.jpg

imo the biggest differences between the 2 sculpts (besides paint aps/hair which have been discussed and covered) is:

1. The new BR Joker has a fuller face. To me, the V.1 head (even with a repaint) still has a very narrow chin/jaw line. The lower face almost comes to a point.

2. The nose on the BR Joker isn't as wide. Especially in the bridge of the nose. The nostrils aren't as big either.

3. Disregarding the actual new scar sculpting (that's obvious so it's not worth discussing) but how the scaring puffs out the ends of the mouth/cheeks slightly. This is understandable since HT didn't know what the final prosthetics would look like. But the V.1 head doesn't have this puffed out look. Even if you fix the actual scars on the V.1 head this mouth effect will still be missing.

I'd really be surprised if, with all the paint removed from the V.1 head, that sculpt even looked remotely like Heath Ledger. I just don't see it. Even with the repaints I've seen it still doesn't look like Heath. I can understand HT not getting the Paint/Details (scars/hair) right because of the lack of actual pics/video of Heath in finished make-up (if that was the case) but overall imo HT didn't even at least nail a decent Heath Ledger sculpt. And that has nothing to do with a lack of movie material. They just didn't hit the mark the first time out imo. I don't like the other heads I've seen from other companies but at least the heads LOOK like Heath with just really bad make-up. :D

Now I need one of you to donate your V.1 Jokers to me so I can swap heads with my BR Joker in Dec. That way I can have BOTH figures. :banana

Definately the upper lip. V1 is really banana shaped and grinny where as V2 captures the almost dead straight, horizontal, puffy, scarred 'mouth full of marbles' pout that Heath put on. Awesome sculpting

Ya, I know a lot of folks are pulling out the conspiracy card with the HT Joker figures, but I genuinely believe they just rushed the first figure, admit they missed the mark and wanted to take another stab and because there are multiple costumes, they were able to go the route of a whole new figure rather than just improve the first so as not to utterly piss folks off. I love that the new face has the scars puff out his cheeks properly, that was a defining trait for me watching the movie.

I believe they rushed the first sculpt also, but rather than fix it, they made us pay for that mistake, and we're paying more for it now. They should have pulled the first figure off production and replaced the head. The BR Joker would have sold with the grinning head, on it's own merit. Any other time they haven't bothered to keep on schedule with release dates, has been because they 'cared' about quality. So this time it was alright to stiff us with a bad sculpt was it?

Which stacks up to utterly pissing people off. If not, it should. Moreso, because as usual, they waited till it sold through before releasing BR Joker. You can't tell me these heads weren't already painted and ready to go for V2. I can see that the wheels may have been turning and would have cost them money, and it's this money that has driven their decision not to pull their error. They hide behind non disclosure and, especially in this case, hype for the new head. It has worked too, because in any other instance outrage would ensue.

I, for one, am utterly pissed off. They do nice work and persist in raping their clientelle. Their marketing needs serious reappraisal if they think they can keep on doing this time and time again, especially if they get the support of second guessing fan boys who just want to gush at every new figure they produce. It is our support that has given them the opportunity to grow, and they ought to do the right thing by us, now that they are well and truly on their feet.

i truly believe a company like hot toys is smart enough to figure out how to milk out a figure. although i agree that they rushed the first one i think they rushed it knowing that they would release a second version with a better head sculpt. business is business.

They should just send a new head to EVERYONE that purchase the Joker V1. That would make Hot Toys a company that REALLY cares for their fanbase. I wouldn't mind waiting until December to get V1 with V2 head. I could understand that kind of delay. Or to pay a fee for the head. Now to pay for another figure, I feel a litle cheated.. But in the end we will get TWO amazing Koker figures. And when both are in shelf next to Batman and Batpod, I guess I wont remember this Hot Toys mess. Just my opinion...

True, and I think that's what has Creech mad. The premeditated decision to go with a sub-par sculpt knowing the better one could be used for a figure that otherwise would not have sold so well.

But you're right, business is buisness.

I think decisions like the ALIEN's Kane sculpt are worse for the company. Building excitement for a line before you know if you have the likeness rights, and then only letting consumers know what the sculpt will actually look like once its ready to ship. That's bad business, and many cancelations will come of it. The future of the Predator license could be much like Kane.

Obviously, HT loves to show off their sculpts -- look what they've done to promote the BR Joker sculpt...while for many months they've deliberately hidden the Kane sculpt. That's ^^^^ed up.

Ya, as great as their product is, Hot Toys is not a fan friendly company. Sideshow doesn't play the same kind of games, but then again, Sideshow's collector base is very critical, where for the most part, and I myself am guilty of it, the Hot Toys collector base will buy their stuff with little to no thought about it simply because Hot Toys has done another thing we like. Hot Toys collector's are buying zombies and they know however we're treated they'll win, so they treat the consumer like a mindless money source.

A quick photoshop showing that "it's all part os the game..."

It's strange, because a year or so ago HT was very fan friendly. Remember the Power Loader when they kicked in the free Ripley and added the working bar light at no additonal charge? Those days seem to be gone.

"Its all part of the plan" is the quote I believe. And your photoshop pic still has green hair from the old Joker but looks good

I think people are forgetting that before the film was released, we knew very little about the character and his mannerisms. If you re-read the old threads, you'll find that people were waiting to see the film before they made any judgment about the sculpt. Hot Toys even said that they were inspired to do a re-sculpt after getting more information from the film. It's not hard to believe that this new sculpt is less than a month old.

I think the BR Joker they had planned had just the slicked-back head (which isn't that far off from the V1 head or bust) and that this new one is a recent addition. They didn't screw the customers. We had the pictures. We knew what we were getting. We paid for it.

If they really, really, really wanted to make customers extremely satisfied, they'd offer to sell the new sculpt by itself. But people would be less inclined to buy V2. Hot Toys isn't a legion of evildoers, and they're no charity either.

I didn't know the light was a throw in, I remember Ripley, but not sure if it was ever conclusive that Ripley wasn't meant to be in there. Remember, the price never changed with her addition, and surely that is some cost. I think HT is good at wording things to try and sound more on people's sides than we'd think.

Personally, as cool as it is getting product right on time or pretty close to movie releases, I'd rather see HT step the ambition down a bit and just deliver an all around great, all encompassing product when they have all the details, but they make more money not doing things that way so it won't stop.

Corrected...

It'a all part of the plan...
