Can a Sequel ever be better than the Original?

In my opinion there are some rare cases! Most of the times they just mess it up! Look at AVP:R, or not I won't take resposiblity for you blowin your brains out in displeasure!, rubish!


The ones that made it for me:

Some consider Evil Dead 2 better than part 1, but i disagree. I do like Aliens more than Alien, however.

Also, very recently we have X-Men 2, Spiderman 2, the Dark Knight.

And of course, Jaws: the Revenge was greater than any other Jaws.
