Hi. cool looking figure in spite of the face issues. Looks like they went the ADI route with this one having nothing behind the tendons on the jaw unlike the original. Some pics of various original heads to compare.

Finally bit the bullet and got this bad boy. It's factory-sealed and thus I will be the first one to unleash it. That said, I'm still slightly worried about potential rubber issues - instant or down the line.

Do you still have yours? How is it holding up? And do you recommend doing anything (modge podge/something else?) to it straight out of the box?

Much obliged.

This one doesn't have as many rubber problems as the others. The rubber is thicker and the only thing on mine are a few tiny paint rubs that were there when I got him - used. Don't think you should do anything but treat him with care and out of direct sunlight.

Phew, that's good to know. Appreciate it, mate.

Now, regarding exposure to sunlight, I have my figures (all predators until now) displayed in a detolf in the corner of a room where direct sunlight doesn't hit it. But, during the day the curtains are open and so sunlight gets in. Again, not directly on the detolf since it's in the corner of same wall that holds the window. Will the light bouncing around in the room damage the figures in any way?

I wouldn't worry about that. Only direct sunlight is a real problem. I have plenty of natural light in my room too.
...Rubber, and everything else for that matter, will deteriorate over time though, even hidden away in boxes, so enjoy them while they last ;-)

Thanks brother. Will do.

Your last sentence added water to my mod podge treatment considering mill. Has the treatment ever done any harm? If not, maybe it's safe bet and worth doing, no? If only to add shine and sliminess.

I'm considering a stand for this guy as well, but am not sure the tail allows for the regular HT stands? Which I then need to attach to the diorama base somehow. Any experience of that?

Thanks again.

I wouldn't treat this one with mod Podge. Actually I haven't treated any of mine, but I would consider the dog Alien because it lost its shine. Big Chap won't. And mod podge gets hard meaning you shouldn't pose him after.
I'm using a regular stand on mine.

Shoot, good call. I thought it was only a conditioner of sorts. But in retrospect, 'sealer' does sounds serious and definite. Attributes that are quite opposite of rubber.

Is that a Kaiser stand? Looks great, and the pose is subliminally haunting as well. Good job. Need to get a stand like that and see if it's possible to merge it with the base somehow.

Yes, it's a Kaiser stand with a HT hook. Works fine as the tail rests between the two.
As for the mod podge I really am no expert as I ended up not using it for the same reasons. But I'm quite convinced that the chap doesn't need it like the dog - that is supposed to look glossy.

Personally, I'd only use the modge podge if you start seeing the rubber cracking.
Isn't that too late already? How long have you had yours and how is the old chap holding up?

Same here. I applied Mod Podge to mine a couple of years back - https://www.toyrewind.com/hot-toys-alien-collection-restoration/
Mate! Your page is what inceptioned the idea in my head in the first place. Looks great. How long did you have yours and what state were they in when you mod podge'd them?

Any other Big Chap owners here? How is he holding up?

relax, he has no rubber problems (except for the jaw) to worry about! hmmm didn't you ask that already? mine had paint scheme altered by previous owner, icluding chemical and physical affection of the surface i guess - and still didn't suffer a bit. well except for that glossy finish of course, but you've already got advices about it.
i wish they made robocop line with this material instead of rotting rubber.
forget about dreadful rotten HT A3 pics, it's not happening to their A1 and hopefully A2.

Ask what already?

Sounds reassuring, which is awesome.
Regarding the jaw rubber, are you thinking about the tendons? If so hopefully it'll be a non-issue since I'll pose him with his mouth shut.

whether HT A1 holds good over years or not :)

them and the lower jaw. soft stretching rubber, like on their A2. doesn't rot on my A1 but lost all gloss. i have two kinds of mod podge just in case, so i don't worry. the suit itself has no cracks and damages, though it's been preowned.

I've had the Big Chap for years (every since he was first released) and have had absolutely no problems with the rubber suit. I haven't put anything on the rubber parts at all. The only thing I've done is to carefully paint the teeth and nails/claws in chrome and it made a world of difference.

I had mine when it first came out (was it 2009 or 2010?). I only applied the mod podge in 2014 because the original shine faded over time. BTW, mine didn't have cracks or rubber damage when I applied the podge. As of today, it's still in perfect condition. :)

You've got a keen memory, my friend. About two years ago - when I had just gotten my first HT Predator - I posted a thread regarding their rubber dreads and how to maintain them. (For the record I did nothing to any of my Predators' dreads and they're still tip-top.)

That is very reassuring. Thanks for that. Did yours lose any of its shine like P.'s did? What did you use for the teeth btw? Pics?

Nice. Does the mod podge coating crack on the bendable parts of the Big Chap? Or anywhere else for that matter.
