Can I be both pessimistic and excited at the same time?

I didn't like Man Of Steel. I'm not happy that that particular world is the basis of the DC shared universe. But on the other hand, damned if I'm not excited about seeing Batman and Superman in one film regardless.

If you are, than you apparently can mate. And although I did like Man of Steel, a lot of things people list as complaints or faults are things I don't want to see return in MoS2 either. I definitely want a Superman that's better honed the use of his powers.

My opinion of MoS2 could actually really harm my opinion of MoS1 if they don't actually affirm MoS as a 'rookie on day 1' story. But hearing interviews with Goyer, that seems to be exactly what they're gonna do.

I hated MoS and I'm not a fan of Goyer's input with DC heroes.

Visually, I got no beef with Snyder. I loved 300 and Watchmen completely. I'm hoping the problem with MoS was just a misunderstanding of the Superman character, and that they do a better job now that Batman is thrown into the mix. I have faith and this new photo of Batman and the Batmobile have made me cautiously optimistic of this next installment. For me, I think there's a possibility to redeem the MoS ****, almost like what was done with the Andrew Garfield Spider-Man. He was terrible and douchey in the first movie, but then by film two, they totally revamped him visually and through his character.

If they refocus Superman, maybe ignore what happened last year, I'm game. So far the Batman part of this project is the most appealing, from Jeremy Irons as Alfred to Bats' suit and car. If Superman and his world sucks again, so be it, hopefully Batman alone delivers.

Both terrible films.

Look at this guy. If you give Bradley the classic Joker look he's gonna be creepy as ****. Guy's a great actor in both comedy and drama, understands both. Can go berserk but can act subtly as well. Forget that he's usually muscular, he's the only guy I know who I can see upstaging Heath at this point. (Unless you wanna go older like DaFoe.) He's perfect for it imo. He's actually a good impersonator as well, so he's good at voice work. They picked him for Rocket for a reason I'd say.

I don't really know anyone for MatMac to play. Don't really think he fits into Batman's world, other than maybe Nolan's version of it all.

I would be okay with this, he could certainly look the part,

Also we already had two jokers that were played very differently, so the next one is going to have to be reinvented again.... I could see this guy working well

I really, thoroughly enjoyed Man of Steel. It wasn't perfect, and I was more than happy to make light of some of the more divisive elements, but it was a solid, enjoyable film, and a great start to a new Superman for a new generation. With that in mind, everything I've heard about this film makes me think it's going to be even better than the last.

Both terrible films.

A comment I read on io9, that I loved, was someone who said "Man of Steel isn't Superman: Year One, it's Superman: Day One." It's true, too. At best, this is Superman's first week on the job. That's why I think the movie's so, shall we say, "not fun," at times. It's a journey of self-discovery, and it's not a Superman movie; it's the story of how Clark Kent became Superman. I think the whole point of that film was that he wasn't the Superman we know. That's where the realism comes into play. I think we'll get the big, blue boyscout, but, unlike the books, I think the point they're trying to make is that he's got to grow into that character; he can't just be born that way I think that's where Zod's death comes into play. He's seen firsthand how killing feels, and he never wants to do it again; we see how that crippled him, emotionally, even though he was perfectly justified, considering the situation. With that in mind, I'm hoping and praying that Snyder has the vision to see that through, and to use that in this story. To me, Zod's death is the perfect in for Batman, which is why I'm against the folks who say that he's just there to make more money.

The circumstances of Zod's death don't matter; all that would matter, to someone as morally stagnant as Batman, is that, with the right amount of pressure applied, Superman is capable of taking life, and that makes him one hundred times more dangerous in Batman's eyes. With that in mind, we start to see that Superman that we know at the end of Man of Steel; Clark's wearing his glasses and working at the Planet, and Superman's on his way to becoming the hero that we all know. Man of Steel isn't the whole story, it's just Act One.

But Man of Steel is not the cinematic abortion some people claim it to be. And if we are judging this film by MOS, and I liked MOS, then it follows that i will like this.I get that opinions on movies can be varied. But there are people who enjoyed Man of Steel. i am one of them. Plus I like to keep an open mind about things. Snyder has directed more good films than bad IMO(which is just my opinion). People are hating on Goyer now, but he had a hand in all 3 of Nolan's Batman films. People seem to just want this film to fail. I don't. I like Superman, and love Batman. I hope it is worth the 21 years I have been waiting to see these guys on screen together.

If you like MOS, you have reason for optimism. If you hated it, you have reason for pessimism. I don't think it's folks wanting it to suck in most cases (though some Marvel fanboys may, in fact, hope for that), but just people being rational. If I hated all the Marvel U movies, I wouldn't be optimistic about GOTG, Ant-Man, or Avengers 2, either.

So I am assuming you hate 300 as a comic, because that was the most literal adaptation of a comic property we have ever had.

I love them both. Watchmen took what was an unfilmable story and made it work. He didn't ignore any character or short change the plot. The film is expertly shot and beautiful to look at. Other than the chang made to the ending(which Snyder didn't write) I think it is an excellent film.
