Wow...you give me hope. I still think I'll throw my theatrical money on Oppenheimer though.Just out of the film. Absolutely loved it.

Seeing the movie this Friday and your review has me a little more hyped. I’ve been trying to go in with no expectations so am hoping I’ll find it as enjoyable as you.

I wouldn’t trust Johnny Utah. He has a gif in his avatar and it changes each week. Stuff like that you can’t really trust. It’s like “dude how many gifs do you have access to? Why don’t you pick one you like!”

Serious question but what do people see in that movie? It looks absolutely boring. I mean idk I wasn’t much for war films so maybe that’s why but a movie about the conception of the atomic bomb just sounds eh

Just spoke to a friend of mine who is a Indy nut as well (even named one of his kids Indiana), and he liked it. Didn't love it, but liked it better than Crystal Skull.
Saying that... he's easily pleased... he also likes everything Star Wars including TLJ and BOBF. Nuf said.

Still, glad to hear it's not as bad as Crystal Skull. I don't think anyone thought this would be groundbreaking, it's a cash grab. But, hey, watchable, I'm down.

Well, I just got back from my screening. So I can say I really enjoyed the first 20 mins or so, it was classic Indy, but unfortunately, I found it went downhill from there. It's by no means awful, it's just not particularly good. I'll rank it higher than KotCS simply because of the really good opening to the film, but it's a pale imitation of the original three.

It will be Saturday for me before I get to see this, but glad to see there is some ‘hope’ No-one has come right out and said it sucks on here just yet. Really looking forward to sharing the experience with my daughter, should create a nice memory for both of us, just like I have seeing Crusade with my Dad back in the day.
Well, for me, that's very promising -- I'll happily take better than Crystal Skull. I can't expect much more.

if you lower your expectations considerably, you'll already be happy with seeing Indy back in action
The Dial of Destiny opens with a very long flashback scene and i liked it.
Dial of Destiny doesn't surprise at any moment. The scene where Indy rides through a large parade on a horse and finally enters the subway (as seen in the trailer) is a scarce highlight. Compared to today's action movies Dial of Destiny just seems too slow and too long.
I think director James Mangold fell into the trap of wanting to be too faithful to the original material, while he could have shown a different side of Indy. Mangold's efforts result in a very long movie where Indy has to keep bouncing from one place to another to find the other half of the Dial. The final place where he lands is kinda... well, ridiculous?
The famous Indiana Jones tune is also used way too often. As soon as Indy comes into action, even if it's only riding of in a Tuktuk, it can be heard again.
