Damn. I loved this movie. Watching clips online. It still feels unreal . The scene where all the spidermen are talking to Peter about what they lost is very emotional. Especially with the “with great power” quote . Then him losing everything and being alone at the end. Great stuff.

As I said in my salty review, I still think it has its moments. Yet ... salinity.

Sony just released a new trailer for NWH digital release and this new trailer is heavily focused on spotlighting Andrew Garfield they even show Gwen and it ends with the title The Amazing Peter # 3!

I noticed that too. It's a pretty transparent attempt to really milk the nostalgia effect. He did bawl when he lost Ben and Gwen, but that was understandable -- I guess the creative team decided to take his emoting and turn it up to eleven to make the story seem weight-y in an attempt to make 40 and 50-year old men tear up.

I mean ... by their nature films are 'manipulative' -- they're trying to immerse, to evoke a response in the audience. But when you see the naked machinery clanking away in a paint-by-numbers fashion (how's that for a mixed metaphor?) I think they fail. Disney does this *a lot* these days due to a vulnerable and easily exploited fan base.

Granted, different people react to these things in diverse ways, but I still think Disney was miiiiiiilllllking it for cheap feels. And they have you @jye4ever . Listen, you don't have to let them touch you like that. Nothing gives them that right.

If I choose to lower my cynical wall so that I can feel good in a theater while the outside world is going to hell then that was my decision and not Disney manipulating me.

Well, I'll pay you the respect that you're indeed the final arbiter of your emotional state but I don't see a lot of the current Disney product the same way.

I have no cynical wall; I unabashedly and without reservation enjoyed both The Batman and Dune in recent memory. I can critique them without picking them apart, I just feel like Disney keeps trying to stick their hand down my emotional pants.
