The Phase 1 501st’s markings are way more subtle across both the helmet and the armour itself. It can be seen most clearly in Battlefront 2 (2017), the developers previously stated that everything they added to the game had to be approved by Lucasfilm.

But to make it accurate HT would have had to include swap put armour pieces too.
You are absolutely correct, but they also approved the figure so LFL was okay with this version as well. I guess my point was more that if they really didn’t like it they could’ve vetoed it.

Like you said, the TCW/BF2 example is so far highest level canon. But I do still think the Sideshow and Hot Toys version is a reasonable interpretation of what some troopers or companies within the 501st might’ve looked like at some point during the war.

But I understand that’s ultimately partially wishful thinking on my part as I personally really like the Phase 1 helmet with the Phase 2 501st scheme.

Yeah true, I’m not really a fan of Phase 1 with these kind of heavy markings, I much prefer how it looks in TCW/BF2 personally.

That’s fair too. The only thing I don’t like about the TCW/BF2 version is that it’s a little too close to the generic Phase 1 Clone Lieutenant. Maybe a little more blue here and there would be been nice.

Yeah, I’m just not a fan of how the HT Phase 1 looks anyway, it’s just not right plus its missing the red light on the back of the helmet. It wasn’t there in the show, but the fin tapered to a point in the stylised art style, but it should be there as this is a realistic interpretation. I don’t care if you’ll never see it, because by that logic they could just not paint the back of figures at all and do a half arsed stitching job on the back of outfits :lol

Well they do a half assed job stitching the suits on the side of some figures already.:lol

Yeah, it should be there. I like the light on the Phase 1’s fin. But the two indentations on the side of the chest armor should also technically be there as a realistic interpretation of Clone armor like @Chainedstream and I were discussing in the 501st thread.

It is kind of a weird halfsie approach in the finer details when you think about it. Not that most people will care. And not that most people will use the Phase 1 helmet now that it’s sized for a watermelon.

I need to stop watching the reviews because I'm going to end up ordering more.

They definitely look better than the 501st troopers.

The problem is, as stated, they have no companion piece. The 501st guys can be displayed with Anakin, Rex or Ahsoka. Even Obi-Wan wouldn't be out of line considering how often he was with Anakin and Rex on missions.

The Coruscant Guard needs one of Padme, Fox or Sidious to be displayed with. I think that's keeping order numbers down, which is keeping hype down. But they definitely look really good. Probably the best looking trooper HT has made.

I like both. 501st edges out a bit for me because of how much they do onscreen, but I do like the Shock Trooper/Coruscant Guard colors and design a lot.

They look to be some of the best troopers Hot Toys has made, aside from the needless adherence to the ROTS version with some of the weathering.

They would look great with Padme and Phase 2 Fox or Thorn, but can work well with Tarkin, Palpatine, or even Vader (RIP Fox).

I'm amused by how your signature immediately contradicts that gif, with Rex flanked by several 501st knowing they need to do what must be done.
The signature wins, I'll be ordering another one when I put in the pre-order for Luke lol

The trooper started skyrocketing on Sideshow's website, but I do agree they need some help around them.

I have to trust that Fox, Sideous or Padme is somewhere in the pipeline and my 2 Coruscant Guards won't be lonely. They're cheap (for Hot Toys) and I'd rather have them now then have to track another one down whenever we get a solid companion piece for them.

I think the 501st are better in every possible way. The more simplistic paintjob looks better to me and you can't even compare the two when it comes to all the packs, weapons, and helmet options. Plus as you mentioned they pair with much more desirable characters too.
