Someone at Disney found that secret stash of source material that Kathleen Kennedy didn't realise existed.

I suppose we have to remember that Favreau and Filoni have nearly 30 years of the timeline to play with. Who cares what happened in the ST when all's said and done? It's not like those films made any effort whatsoever to fill in the timeline or took time to do any world-building. Everything that happened between ROTJ and TFA is blank.

Watching The Mandalorian has made me want to go back and re-read everything in the EU. Six months in and I'm completely finished with the Old Republic era: books, comics, games, short stories. Mando really does make you feel like you're in the EU.

I think someone at Lucasfilm has realised this is what people want, which is why they're re-releasing many of the EU novels and re-printing many of the Dark Horse comics in omnibus form. There's a real push by them to get this material in the public consciousness again.

Solo came in for some heavy criticism, but barring a few oddities it took me right back to Brian Daley's trilogy.

The film even had a nod to them with the crystal skull in Dryden Vos' collection.

Mandalorian S3 will make it the sequel trilogy.
Agree although it's a tangential story, it's somewhat been working to that end for me.
The ST was a double whammy for him. Not only disappointing film-wise, but, "The sales were awful."

It's no wonder we're seeing so much Hot Toys love poured onto The Mandalorian. For Howard it's a return to the very things that initially made him a Star Wars fan.
Hence anticipation for a Mando Luke, despite only slight tunic and robe change from ROTJ.
I think many (me included) want to commemorate the moment of the "rescue" on their shelf, not just of Grogu, but when Favreau and co. rescued the still positive hope-filled Luke.
His appearance in the Rescue, and moment for now marks his last appearance in canon before the failed, hopeless, cowardly, fear driven, betrayal of the ST.
Given the above [bold], I imagined Howard would have jumped on that opportunity to put his figure out there.
I want him to pour the same onto Obi-Wan and Cassian.

Which is also why the neglect of R1 Cassian (not even a prototype) makes me wonder if Howard was ever a great fan of the character?
Even his droid, he programed to be more human, as his own humanity slipped away, got a figure before him. :lol!
Recognizing he is not an easy character to like, (as are K2, or Chirrut) he's by design not that unique looking, and he's morally complicated.
Although to me his character and presence are somewhat the most symbolic reference to the one line culled from the original crawl- "Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, ...." That's him, for me he's become the visual face of that OT line. Which makes his continued figure absence all the more frustrating.
Without him that snapshot is incomplete. Unfortunately we may never get a R1 specific Andor.
Yet I imagine most certainly his new series will finally bring us a version of him.

if not, however this eventually got made, with Tony Gilroy show-running, I imagine Andor becoming somewhat the Star Wars equivalent of ...

Yep so many memorable scenes with Mando. Ahsoka, King Boba, Luke kicking ass, just returning to the old lived in universe and keeping it similar to what Lucas established.
Yep, for the most part the ST doesn’t feel like Star Wars to me, aside form having lightsabers and the force.

These Vader comics that are trying to expand on the road to the ST are just getting ridiculous like him showing up to Exegol and riding a giant Cthulhu monster that Palpatine insta-kills.

Like I know Star Wars can get crazy, but there’s certain foundations that Lucas built, sure you, can build on top of them, but don’t buy another plot of land and try to outshine what was done before by being bigger and bolder.

The appearance of the single X-Wing and the expectation it was Luke was a goosebumps moment.

There was so much impact and exhilaration from those scenes.

Contrast that with space Jesus Luke standing on the cliff edge at the end of The Force Awakens, which lead only to grumpy space Jesus Luke tossing the lightsaber over his shoulder, before finally sacrificing himself via video conference.

There's some really deep-cut easter eggs in Dryden Vos's collection with really obscure references to Xim the Despot and the Mandalorian rally master armour. Btw I really love Solo, despite its flaws.

Plus design wise it gave me two of my favourite post-OT troopers: The Patrol Trooper and Mudtrooper.

I was perfectly fine with Alden as the young Han, and apart from a couple of things it really recalled the OT era EU.

The two negatives were how Solo got his surname, which negates his family history; and L3-37 going a bit over the top, even though her sentiments were in-keeping with '77 Star Wars: "We seem to be mad to suffer,. It's our lot in life."

I dont like Han Solo movie, but I do not hate it. On the contrary I think it has some potentials to be a great film, but with KK and the witch's cronies disgusting signatures it turned into a disastrious mess inevitably.

I think the biggest negative for Solo was just it's timing. SW fans were at an all-time divide and they were too blind to read the room and basically threw the movie to the wolves. So Solo just gets grouped into the ST years and get dragged down with it.

Had the movie come out after season 1 of Mando, I think it'd be looked upon more favorably than it has been and I think as time goes on, people will learn to appreciate it for what it was. Surprisingly, I'm actually open to a sequel movie or show. And that's coming from someone who's never even been a big Han Solo fan. I think the only figure I even wanted from Solo was an Enfy's Nest:lol

The Kessel Run alone was horrible story telling. Add in an over the top droid, Solo name and bad villains, there is a reason it is not well looked upon.
Jacen and Jaina aside, could Favreau and Filoni realistically do the Heir to the Empire trilogy now, deaging too, a double for Leia?
Just do it. Who gives a F about canon at this point? After the ST, there really isn't much worse you can do at this point.
