Re: Hot Toys - Iron Man 2 - War Machine Collectible Figure (Reissue)

I asked this on facebook. Do you think that Hot Toys might be struggling with development of the new figures due to the pandemic and are doing reissues of known sellers for revenue to stay afloat seeing that they already have all the molds?

This is %100 the case. There haven't been any new movies for them to work off in over a year -- that combined with all of the issues in production and shipping caused by the pandemic, I think we've been lucky to see so many figures getting released/announced at all.

This is the first time I have been happy about a re-issue as I missed this the first time around. I think it is time people just accepted that Hot Toys is no longer a limited production company and its figures are more mass production toys vs. limited collectibles. Which is perfectly fine.

I'm not so sure - from Jan-May 2020, they announced 20 figures. From Jan-May 2019 they announced 19 figures. From Jan-May this year they announced 25 (~21 new) figures. the collectibles market seems to have gotten stronger during the pandemic so I don't think Hot Toys is in any sort of struggle to stay afloat.

I am wondering why the release time frame is July-August 2022? I would think we?d see this by the end of this year. Shouldn?t Hot Toys still have the molds for this? If it was a new release I would understand the long wait time. Or maybe they might tweak it a little??

Because they have a huge backlog of figures that are queued to be produced at their factories. They can't just go hey let's shove this War Machine inbetween all of those other figures. They have the molds and everything for it but it's probably in the back of the line of other figures ahead of it to actually be made.

Yeah the release date is a big bummer I was hoping to have it by September 2021 lol

But the unfortunate reality is and I don’t know how accurate this is but doesn’t HT only operate with one factory production line so their schedule is super tied up and it has always surprised me with their growth that they never expanded into other production lines but c’est la vie it is what it is and then when you add a pandemic into the mix BAM!

I think its possible they are pushing later release windows to ease the pressure of meeting a deadline too.

Probably will order when it’s a little closer to release. Serious risk for collectors getting buried in PO’s these days.

My favourite thing about this armor is the amount of lead it pumps out. Growing up with the late 80’s/early 90’s action movies, the look and sound of automatic gunfire in cinema makes me feel right at home. Taking real world weapons (ex-wife aside) and incorporating them into War Machine in a scene was a fantastic decision. Rewatching the entire MCU during the height of the pandemic gave me a new appreciation for that aspect of Iron Man 2.

Best scene.

To be fair, the ex wife did not work because Rhodey used it in a too short of a distance.

-These are the Cubans, baby. This is the Cohibas; the Montecristos. This is a kinetic-kill, side-winder vehicle with a secondary cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine RDX burst. Its capable of busting a bunker under the bunker you just busted. If it were any smarter, itd write a book, a book that would make Ulysses look like it was written in crayon. It would read it to you. This is my Eiffel Tower. This is my Rachmaninoffs Third. My Pi?ta. It's completely elegant, its bafflingly beautiful, and itscapable of reducing the population of any standing structure to zero.-

It is a kinetic kill, which means it needs to accelerate to an extreme high velocity to be effective.

Oh boy, would I have loved to see this baby busting the bunker, under the bunker.

Interesting info! Man, they gave Hammer some solid lines.

Hmmm Im going to watch Iron Man 2 tonight too! From what I remember, it was everything I wanted from a sequel. Lets see if it still holds up. Cant believe the movie is 11 years old already.

For me, it got better with time. Same with Iron Man 3. Wasn’t the biggest fan of them when they first released. With the bigger picture complete though, they really shine.

I never understood all the hate with Iron Man 2. I still enjoy it

My struggle with some of the early MCU stuff was that it took an adjustment period for me to let go of comic book storylines and how I wanted things to go and just view the MCU as its own thing, it’s own storyline. That may sound silly, but it took a few movies for it to really sink in— not unlike a few issues for a comic run to win you over. Avengers won me over.

The fact you can acknowledge that doesnt make it silly. I always saw the MCU as its own thing because I have never been into comic books. Ofcourse I knew about the MCU heroes but for me it started with Raimi and MCU and the first time I ever saw War machine was in the 199x Spider-Man Cartoon. .

I can understand how it would take you a few movies to settle in, usually the comics are way more specific than the MCU movies, to appeal to the general audience too. For a fan I could imagine some stuff might be not as satisfying as on the comics.

Wonderful!

I loved reading this ...great scene!!

I missed the original release of MK1 but after great, bulky MK4 I was really hopeing for reissue of the first War Machine.

I was expecting that the release date will be quicker :(
