For all the hate the mask is getting, it does serve a purpose by keeping his identity a secret, which makes sense if you're a criminal and your gimmick is using "?"

I'm not sure what people want? A guy in spandex or in a green suit with a hat? The suit works, but it's kind of boring without the question marks on it. I think there are other ways they could have reinvented the Riddler, but he's a tough character to make visually interesting in a grounded setting.

Everything about Riddler srceams over the top, colorful, crazy, and ridiculous, which is why he was as popular as Joker in the Adam West show. The Riddler is a silver age villain meant to be over the top.

The serial killer angle can work without a crazy mask gimmick and a more tactical approach, such as Dexter. Dexter's uniform would be perfect for Riddler, down to the leather gloves. Another addition could be a daredevil type home made cloth mask from the first season that covers half the face. That would be like a modern realistic take on the old Riddler mask, but that might look silly unless he's realistically crazy like Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. Even purple glasses would be a nice homage to the original design. So many simple options.

I liked the Arkham City design for the Riddler. That said, I won?t pass judgment on this design until I actually see the movie - a novel concept!

I can see that, but storytelling is one thing, arresting costume design is another. The film may be good in spite of drab or uninspired costumes, but as an action figure aficionado -- whether or not you want these designs on a shelf is another story. Guess it depends on what motivates your collecting.

Yeah well it?s the Internet, and that mean trash everything all the time......

They trashed Ledgers Joker look before the film.....many people still do. Even though it?s regarded by the majority as the best Joker ever put to film.

Most of us are old enough to remember everyone freaking out, pre-internet, when Michael Keaton was announced as Batman.

I didn't freak out, but unlike a lot of kids my age, I was already on the Bat-wagon before 1989. I was big into the comics, and I just couldn't imagine Mr. Mom wearing the tights.

Then an article came out in Newsweek which had the first picture I'd see of Keaton all suited up.

Pretty sure it was this famous promotional shot.

I was disappointed at first cause the costume was all black and not grey and blue, and that he had clearly fake rubber muscles, but soon like everyone else in the world, I was transfixed and couldn't wait to see the movie and get a cool toy of this new take on Batman. (Still haven't got the perfect figure 32 years later....)

I really liked Batman Begins, but I really didn't care for the costume. But when the sequel was in development, I was already a big fan of Ledger's and I knew he was gonna crush it despite the naysayers. I absolutely loved the first promo reveal.

I didn't automatically trash everything for no reason. I've given every movie Batman a chance. Even Clooney.

This one is different though. This just looks like such low budget, phoned-in CW trash, I can't even pretend to give it a fair shake. That's the ugliest Batman costume I've ever seen. Even TDK armor plates was better than this. And that's definitely the laziest, non-iconic Batmobile ever made.

Ever watch those behind the scenes making of the Batmobiles? Even on the crap movies, the designers all jumped at the chance to try to outdo the last one. This one...is just a black car. That's all. Just a car.

I don't know why all this stuff looks so bad. Is it intentional? Does the director think he's being different by showing a cheap car and a cheap suit? Or does this movie just have no budget?

This is essentially Se7en. The mask fits with that kind of approach. While it does look goofy, there is no doubt about that, it might just play well with this type of Riddler. Not every criminal in Gotham has robbed the Central Bank and can have fancy suits . But we all hope down the road we do see them with something that is distinctive of their character that is respectful of what we identify the character with. For the Riddler, hopefully a Bowel hat or a cane at some point.

But this is exactly what people have wanted. A more subdued, realistic take on the flamboyant Riddler. The serial-killer angle seemed inspired -- still does -- but personally I don't like the mask. I didn't like Bane's either.

I wanted the masking tape mask -- creepy, seemed crazy. A purchased off-the-shelf mask just seems... uninspired... which is what I fear this movie might be.

Batman is now on the 7th actor to play him.

RDJ right now is still in Adam West territory.

It took only ONE IM the first one no less to make him Batman levels of popular.

Who will play future Tony Starks.

Bond is also on his 6th actor (counting only genuine Bonds).

Not sure who would make a good Tony. Already want a reboot, huh? :lol

Make Tony Great Again

How about Elon Musk... because truthfully, that's what a genius like Tony would actually be like.

Wow RDJ really is the only actor to ever play Stark in live-action isn't he. That's crazy. Even MCU Cap was fourth time the character was played in live-action (though the original 1944 serial film was technically Grant Gardner and not Steve Rogers for whatever reason.)

Wyatt Russell and Anthony Mackie make fifth and sixth "Captain Americas" with Evans being the third Steve Rogers.

Maybe Batman will beat Riddler up so badly that he needs a cane in future films. :lol

7 Batman actors and not one of them I consider definitive. :lol RDJ as Iron Man has to be one of the greatest castings ever along with Reeve as Sups, Jackman as Wolverine, and maybe Reynolds as Deadpool, even though I don't care for the character.

It's going to be difficult for anyone to replace those actors.

Is there a definitive Spidey?

Both Magneto and Xavier well well done TWICE, which is crazy. I like the young actors as much as the old ones.
