Sorry to derail but I’m working my way through TNG and I’m in the middle of ep 12 of Season 1 (Datalore), and I’m just dumbfounded at how much Fassbender’s David owes to Lore!

Tilly gets on my nerves, her girlish silliness is more than I can take, and her mycelial friend is just as bad, or even worse... so this episode was a true test of my resilience in that regard.
Also, the whole subplot with Stamets boyfriend seemed like a waste of time. I don't think we've been around these guys long enough for his resurrection to really have an impact.

CBS just announced that it earned 4 billion dollars in its 4th Quarter which is an all time high for them. The CEO is crediting most of that to the success of CBS All Access and crediting the success of All Access to Star Trek Discovery. I think the folks who are fantasizing about the show being canceled because they don't personally like it may have to move on now. This excellent show probably has 5 more seasons coming.

That’s great news, I want this to be successful!

I respect that...I wish more fans could follow your example. It is refreshing to see that someone can dislike an aspect of something without wishing plague, pestilence, and apocalypse on it and everyone involved with it.

I don't mind the show but i just ignore the stupid mushrooms, spore drive etc. It's a shame the whole show looks like it will involve these magic mushroom beings.

They seem to be building up to them giving up the network because travelling through it is devastating to its inhabitants. They just seem to be getting to it faster than I thought they would (I assumed they'd leave it until their final episodes, whenever that might be)

Also,.....

With Spock yet to show up, I still don't know if this version will pass muster, but so far, going by Anson Mount's performance alone, I'd love a show based on the Enterprise during the rest of Pikes 5 year mission.

Unsurprisingly Discovery has now been OFFICIALLY renewed for a third season! Great news! The last Star Trek series on TV was barely able to limp to a third season and got a fourth as an act of charity.

I'm not surprised, even though the show is far from perfect, and not what you'd consider a classic Trek style of show, it is mostly enjoyable.

It's very much Star Trek for today...alas I prefer the Star Trek of yesterday.

All I can think when watching it is 'I wish TNG and DS9 were the same shows they were but with these 2019 production values'.

Discovery might have gone over better with me if it were a sequel to DS9 rather than a prequel to TOS. I don't know why ever since Voyager they've constantly felt the need to go back (Enterprise), back (Abrams-verse), back (Discovery). It causes problems. Too many problems.

Is this getting the views they are after? Is it doing well or just getting by?

CBS has just had its most profitable year in the company's history. The CEO attributed a large part of that success specifically to the success of Star Trek Discovery. It's safe to say that it is definitely doing more than just getting by.

If that is the case they should make more shows even ones that wont be as popular like a tng trek. Orville has done it trek should do one to.

It might be that CBS has stated for years now that TOS merchandise sells better than anything else Trek.
That's also why CBS insists on putting out TOS merchandise even when Paramount/Bad Robot complain that it's hurting their merchandise sales.

Anyone looking forward to the Section 31 spinoff?

And anyone think it weird that Tilley doesn't appear to be in the best shape but was all of a sudden running a half-marathon in a recent episode?
