Re: Hot Toys - Star Wars: Rouge One - Assault Tank Commander Collectible Figure

It does feel like there might be a slightly better chance of Baze happening now, with really late RO releases like this and Krennic... but it's probably still a huge long shot unfortunately.
The OT was out a long time before that..and still we get figures. R1 should be no exception..is just as loved now and deserves the main cast at least.
Imagine a HT Saw? Ooooof!!

As expected, RO is surging as its following grows, while the ST is swiftly being forgotten.

We haven't gotten a C-3PO yet for a movie back in 1977... so a Baze or Cassian or even Saw from 2016 seems very current indeed.

Instant pre-order for me ..will buy anything Rogue One .
Not keen on the transport trooper or much from the Mandalorian..but have bought the ST only because its in R1 and one of the characters I do in the 501st. Would be all over more Solo releases too.
Hoping when Andor arrives a lot of the characters from that time frame will be considered..both imperial and rebel. Cannot frigging wait to see it.

POd mine at TW. $238 shipped. They allow for a max order of 2 of these.

Why would you need 2?

But by 2022 we will likely be paying tax from that state as well. So figure closer to $258.

If you are getting other trooper from them though they will likely all be coming around the same time... so one more trooper and free ship.

Cara Dune
Greef Karga
Bo Katan
Koska Reeves
Axe Woves
Mythrol
Mayfeld
Cobb Vanth
Fennec Shand
Kuill
Dr Pershing
Boba Fett
The Armorer
Frog Lady
The Client
Ahsoka
Luke

Am I missing any?

This list makes me sad. There is at least ten figures there that I would buy and I suspect HT will make about five of them. Enough with the troopers!

It will probably be grandfathered so if you ordered beforehand you will likely be ok. I still have a preorder or two from Sideshow that I don't have to pay tax on :lol

Nope. Taxes are taxes, when they come due, the seller will pass the responsibility to you. They will request that you complete your order -- meaning when you pay the remainder, there will be taxes added. No way they will eat a year's worth of taxes for all their clients.

The only way to maybe -- maybe -- get around it is to pay off your figure in advance. I still believe retailers will hit you for the remaining amount due in most cases. Just like they do for shipping.

yup, no grandfathered in to not paying taxes. Not how it works ..

I'm telling you, I have had a few orders from Sideshow ship this year with no tax because I preordered before the tax rule was instituted. I expect that final bills will reflect what your preorder totals indicate.

:goodpost::exactly:

This is exactly how it has happened in every previous instance. As for paying in advance, it may or may not help. I think it will depend on when their POS system considers the transaction finalised. I'd guess any outstanding monies at all (such as shipping or shipping adjustments) would leave the order open. But I'd be surprised any system closed the order prior to being marked shipped.

Interesting. My experience was the exact opposite with SS on sales tax introduction. So end result is.... it's pot luck

I got almost every releases from RO line up (exclude the omission of Imperial disguised Jyn, Shore trooper and non- specialist Death trooper), definitely getting this trooper to tribute one of most fantastic SW movies.

So I guess just shoot these guys on the legs!!

Nope [emoji3]

Anything Rogue One is welcomed.

We're probably seeing the steady stream of troopers because they are popular, no drawn-out approval process for a portrait, and the opportunity to rework and reuse existing parts. With the license fees for SW being so high now, it's a safe bet HT is straining to save where they can while still offering something "fresh" for fans and collectors. That may also be why we're not seeing as many unique display stands or accessories as much. For example, it would have been cool to see a "loose" kyber crystal storage cylinder (and a hand to hold it). That would've have created a display option that more specifically tied the trooper to R1 and the featured sequence. But, like the now-stale standard display boxes, SW figures are getting as generic a presentation as possible.

At least the "character card" that vaguely pegs this as an Rogue One release may be separate from the stand this time.

The trooper does look great. Won't be surprised to see another basic Stormtrooper released soon too...

Nice writeup, a kyber crystal storage cylinder would have made this a much more interesting release to me. As it is I find it to be a rather dull release, especially on the heels of all the other troopers. Still a lot of Star Wars fans seem excited for this so I'm happy for them. I just never understood all the hype for this design, especially considering they did so little in a scene of minor importance.

As it is I am leaning towards skipping this and getting one Transport Trooper to go with my pair of Mudtroopers.

Re: Hot Toys - Star Wars: Rouge One - Assault Tank Commander Collectible Figure

Just wait until Joost makes the tank. I think he's thinking about doing one in 1:6 after he does the Jedi Starfighter, since someone asked and he said he wanted to do the starfighter first.

Has he said anything about that ? Would love a link if you know where.

This has to be a record, as far as prototype shown at a con unit actually up for preorder. It was a four year wait. Can anyone think of another figure that had a longer time in limbo?
