This month, Threezero and Kevin Eastman will debut four unique clay sculpts for their upcoming 1/6th scale Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures in a new collaborative collectible figure series. Never before seen by the public, these hand-sculpted models will be revealed at Hop-Con 3.0: The w00tstout Festival on Wednesday, July 8 at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens – Liberty Station. The sculpts will be on display at the adjacent San Diego Comic Art Gallery space during the event. Following the festival, the sculpts will make a weekend home Thursday, July 9-12 at the Diamond Collectibles booth (#2401) at San Diego Comic-Con International for attendees to see up close in person.
The four TMNT figures will include the heroes in a half-shell designed by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman specifically for this collectible figures collaboration. Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo will be 1/6th scale, fully-articulated figures featuring tailored fabric clothing and the various weapons recognizable by fans as their classic accessories. The four figures will be released later this year for pre-order via Threezero and select retailers.

I was more excited for these than just about anything else on the horizon, but the reveal is a bit of a let-down to me. I don't care for the general aesthetic. Too bad they didn't go with more classic looks. What's up with Raph's head and legs? And they've got different shells, Mikey is more bulky than the others, etc.

the color sketches that have been revealed as the concept art by eastman for these make them look really cool

via the concept art looks like raph has these tats or purple slash like markings on legs and around face. also donny has a full head bandanna. do like more now seeing them in full color art i think.

Michelangelo is bulky because he eats the most pizza.

Hmm. I thought I'd like the look of these more than I actually do. Shame, because I'm imagining the price is probably more in my range than the Mondo ones, and Three Zero's work on the movie turtles seems pretty great (source material aside).

thks Hologram AI!:hi5:

if the figures look like that painted i could be very tempted....

interesting that he did that art in 2014 based on sig

My sentiments exactly. These went from instant purchase to instant pass sadly.

Thanks AI. As always, with Eastman's drawing style, those do look way better in pics. But they just took the general designs and screwed around with his style for the Turtles themselves.

Yep. One Mondo turtle it is.

Why is it that companies never give us what we truly want: 1990 Henson movie turtles.
