Years ago when that run of custom Barbosa figures was started I was approached to make the display stands for them. That never materialized but I’m curious as to what ones might want for him, if anything, now. I always thought a set of matching, wood plank stands for him and Jack would be the best option.

The Tommy Bahama shirt came in today and I think it will look the part once it is made into a coat. I'll wait until I get my figure to see how it can look and do a color test with the whole ensemble. I think it can go maybe 1-2 shades darker like a graphite grey, but it looks good as is and has a steel grey color. It's not shiny, but it has a little sheen to it. I tried dyeing a swatch with some watered down black dye, but it took the color really quickly and got a bit too dark.
I'm pretty sure the pros can get material that would look better, but I'm happy with it as is since it looks darker in my Detolf/room lighting where it will live. Perhaps a little weathering will give it that darker shade.
Can't wait to get the figure as it's in the US now, so I'm hoping I get it by Saturday.

*Edit: I had the good idea of doing a coffee stain on the fabric and I think I got the shade I wanted!

He's arrived and I really like him!
Honestly he looks so much better than I was expecting all the accessories look fantastic and the clothes are actually really nice.
The hat also isn't as big in person as photos make it look and I personally really like how it looks!

Some things do need addressing.
The base issue seems to be universal, some blu tac really helps but a part of me is seriously tempted to just glue the stand in, it's seriously wobbly.

I was going to say the body isn't that bad, if not a little stiff and creaking - but then a wrist peg broke both in the wrist and hand. So.....at the very least those need replacing, I may now test the body a bit more to see if it will hold up with some new pegs or if it needs a total replacement.

My sword (which is really nice) does have an issue due to the basket being unattached to the handle and blade - it wants to slide down at certain angles, but I've already fixed it with a spot of glue - so no issue!
Slightly more annoying was the glue seems to have removed a tiny bit of black paint on the handle grip. So that will need a touch up with some paint.

Seriously though its a really nice figure, well worth getting.

It's exactly what you see in the pics. If you like it you'll like it in hand, if you don't don't get it. It's a project. It will be fun working on it. I'm not as nutty on this as I am about other characters, so jumping on custom coats, etc. isn't in the cards for me. I think the hat is the right size, it's just too thick. That makes it look bigger than it should. I think this is one figure where making it out of felt would look good. Most felt hat look out of scale, but here the hats already exaggerated.
