Hi Everyone,

I tried another repaint of my Robo - I wasn’t happy with my first attempt.

I saw the awesome repaints Dark Spidey was doing and that inspired me to play around with mine.

I did a version based on the really blue screen captures from RoboCop 1. It’s kind of a creative interpretation, since his colors seem to shift from scene to scene.

I always thought he had a deeper bluish/purplish color in Robo 1, rather than just steel gray.
It’s so hard to nail down what his “official” color should be.

I used 4 basic colors: deep blue, purple, black and a little sliver. I misted them mixed together and separately in spots. He’s really more gray/blue than the photos convey.

Just like Dark Spidey’s technique, I let the original “chrome” paint show through. It’s more of a heavy tinting than a full layer of paint.

I think I need to add more blue to his "headband" now that I see the pics.

Anyways, I like him better than the factory chrome paint ; )

Thanks for looking!

Nice man!!!!!! This is the best repaint i've ever seen so far!!!!!

i'm either blind or dumb, but i like the stock paint more than any custom repaints. it's wrong, but less wrong than repaints, which look like circus figures with their vivid bright colors.
that last repaint ^ is less clownish than others, but it lost all metal in it.

I guess it's only the reflection doesn't show up much in the photo maybe? I don't think such marvellous painting skill doesn't include the "glossy look" skill...

However, In some way, I do agree with you, yes and no... On one hand I enjoy looking at photos of repainted robos, they absolutely look great!!! at the same time, on the other, I will not go for the repaint, I'm not sure how they look on hand, but it looks they have commonly lost the "change of colour in different angle"? The pearlescent are very nicely imitated, but they tends to commonly look the same in all angle... (Please tell me if I'm wrong, would really love to see them as I do admire them all), to me, the "change of colour" is more important than the accuracy of the colour...

At the end of the day, I won't need to worry much about decision making coz I simply do not have these amazing painting skill [emoji16]

You ALMOST nailed it, dude.
:hi5:
I think just a tint darker, but not much.
Awesome job.

yes, something like that - that's why i'm not sure if it's me not seeing what everybody does see or vice versa :)

Ha, I guess it's difficult to pick for a lot of ppl, but it's kinda easy for me, that change of colour is more important than anything else, so I have no problem with that....

But then no doubt, I want the colour to be more blue as well.... [emoji7]

Having had Dark Spidey redo my MMS202, the change in colour is still there, but the silver has certainly been muted down to an acceptable level.

I have both DarkSpidey Robocop 1 & 2 repainted figures.

They look really awesome in person and just as well under cool white LED lighting.

****, I saw this thread real quick and almost **** my pants. I thought Hot Toys was releasing a Robocop 2 repaint.

I'm genuinely surprised they haven't, even as a Toy Fairs Exclusive.

Just gut the electronics, make some new faceplates, a new damaged helmet (with the plasma torch cut mark), a new damaged chest piece, and maybe throw in some vials of Nuke. I'd pay ****-you money for that set if they got the metallic blue right like Dark_Spidey did here.

I'd buy the **** out of it too.

So much reuse they can do. Repaint the body and head, include the same faces, repaint the Battle Damaged Robo Murphy head, repack the Cobra rifle and Auto 9, etc. etc. Only new parts would be minor retooling. Like you said, damaged chest piece, torched helmet/visor and maybe the neon orange "kick me" spray painted helmet and socket wrench.

If it looked like Dark_Spidey's, I'd buy a few. Hell, I wouldn't mind if they kept the electronic feature and added the cheesy, f-ed up reprogrammed Robo lines for laughs. If the Robocop 1 single Battle Damaged Robocop is anything to go by, they'll charge $300 for non-electronic figures anyway.

It'd be a frivolous purchase since I pretty much already have all those parts, but I love how he looks in the second film.

Yeah id love the electric blue figure from robocop 2 and while their at it they could make cain as well. That'll always be the dream...

Wow! My god these repainted are amazing! Would anyone do a commission for a Robocop 2 version?
