Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

It's not the issue of money anymore. It's just that there are so many new hot toys figures I want, and so I'm putting this project to the side, and plus i really want to see how others make it and see if i like the overall look or not, especially with the kaustic plastik body. I'm sure i will indeed like the overall look. Will see :)

Can't wait to see the joker figure man! :yess:

Ah gotcha. My biggest fear is still the body, I'm hoping it'll work out. Plan B would be to get a Max Aggression body and frankenstein new arms on it, resculpt some parts, paint to match etc. But I doubt I'd get the realism that I want, so that's only if I'm really unsatisfied with the body. I already have the sculpt, boots, hands, wires, tubes and enough bits and pieces to make the control box. I'm hoping TonyMeis will knock the clothing out of the park, so that really only leaves the body.

Yeah the body is the meat and potatoes to this project. Hopefully it will look good, and I am sure Tony will do and amazing job with the clothes. I gotta get me one of his capes for my bats :monkey1

I've been thinking about that as well. My Jim Lee Bats has been on hold for a while with the sudden influx of comic Batman customs and parts offered, as there are a lot more and better parts available now than when I first started him about a year ago. The biggest pain when getting the fabric to color-match the sculpt, but I'm thinking about sculpting a new neck for him, so I'd have to repaint that anyway. Might as well get the colour of the fabric first and then match the sculpt, which should be a lot easier then getting the dye exactly right.

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

That Predator is badass!! :rock

Thanks Sergiu. :wave

And now some almost finished WIP shots of my Joker. Finally received the straitjacket, it really came out great. It's a bit baggy and the sleeves are a bit too long, but it still works when futzed properly. I also added some highlights to the hair and finished the feet.
I need some input from you guys. My plan is to dye the pants a light blue. I think it will add some more variety to the color pallet, as he's so white at the moment. I'm also thinking about adding some black "ARKHAM" lettering to his chest, might make the jacket pop some more. My concern is that it won't look right in the position he's in in the second pic though, as the jacket bunches up a lot at the chest. Any opinions?

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

Great looking joker man!

I really like the idea of you printing Arkham on the chest. I would also suggest putting like numbers in the back. As for the pants, i think you should dye it orange. Check this video out, it might help you and give you ideas.

Thanks for the input. :hi5: The jacket in that vid looks awesome, love the weathering and the printing on it, I think I definitely have to weather mine at least.
I'm not really a fan of orange for the pants though, it doesn't fit Gotham's usual dark and gritty color-pallet.

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

That is one killer Joker custom! And it's something I've never seen before, which is an accomplishment considering his popularity.

I definitely like the idea of adding the Arkham lettering to the chest, but I'm having a hard time imagining the light blue pants looking cohesive.

I love the work you did on the feet, and the paintjob on the sculpt. You've got some serious talent!

Thanks Dane, I appreciate the kind words. I tried to go a different route with this one, and since I commissioned the straitjacket it can't be replicated easily either. :lol I'll take some more detailed shots when he's 100% done.

Here's a mock-up of what I'm aiming for with the blue pants:

And the original DCD figure that inspired me:

I'm not entirely sure if it'll work, but I think it looks better than the white pants.

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

Oh very cool, I didn't realize you were inspired by another figure. :rock

Not 100% sold on the blue, but it does look better than the white, and you've done such a wonderful job so far translating the DCD figure to 1/6...you just have to follow through :exactly:

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

Quick update on some new acquisitions.

I bought this one with the intent to repaint him if I'm unhappy with the new logo. So far I like it though. I'm not too keen on the grey half on the top of the head, but I've got too much stuff going on right now. I'll let him sink in, and when I'm still unhappy after a while, I'll repaint him slightly.

I've been waiting for this one a long time. I finally received my new muscular Kaustic body, and I couldn't be more happy. It's been a long dream of mine to have a proper Bane figure, ever since I read my first issue of Knightfall in the 90s. Now I'm finally reaching that goal. TonyMeis will make an outfit tailored to this body, and I will make the venom unit etc. myself.
The body came with switched forearms, but that was a quick fix.

These are obviously early WIP shots, but I just have to show him off, he already looks badass IMO. :lol

Here's a shot before the forearm switch:

And after:

I will probably take some new overall collection pics soon, as I will be moving to Amsterdam (Netherlands) in a few weeks to continue my studies and get my master in social psychology. :yess:

Thanks guys. :)

Thanks man, but he's far from done at the moment. He's going to get new clothes, a proper belt, and most importantly, his venom unit. I already have the tube, wires and main control box for his wrist, just have to piece everything together, paint it and add a couple of small details.

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

I just finished reading Broken Bat again so this is particularly awesome.

Thanks Drakul. Knightfall is one of my favorite Batman stories, hence the sig and figure. :)

Thanks Dane. :wave Unfortunately I haven't been as busy with my figures as I would've liked, with work, college application procedures and now moving (still don't have a new place in Amsterdam) I've been really occupied with other stuff.

BTW, are you getting the new Enterbay Bats? I want him so bad, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I'm afraid it will open a whole new can of worms when I step into 1:4, and it would be my most expensive figure ever. On the other hand, it's the goddamn Batman... :lol My favorite character in my favorite suit.

Damn those non-1/6 obligations.

I decided to pass on the EB Batman for now. It was a really tough call as it's my favorite suit as well...went back and forth a tremendous amount, but I need the funds for impending custom work. I'm hoping I can pick it up down the road without having to pay too much more. I can say it appears to be well worth the money, so if your funds aren't tied up in anything else, I would definitely pick it up. :rock

Re: Agonistes' new and improved collection

Snap! That Bane is coming out insane! Can't wait to see that finished. Those kaustic bodies are pretty damn impressive. :exactly:

I need to pick up that Ash Bane sculpt already. :impatient:
