Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

Sony better hope that ASM kicks ass. After The Avengers people no longer need a "Marvel fix" this year so ASM will likely be judged much more sternly. After X:FC and Thor critics and audiences weren't in the mood to give GL a pass on any level last year. ASM could easily follow suit.

My thought exactly. I loved Spidey 1 & 2, this movie leaves me colder than a stone for some reason. The third movie was seriously bad and really totally turned me off. To get my interest this film is going to have to be godlike.

We've had Avengers, we got Prometheus coming up in a few weeks and then Batman is reappearing. Spidey has some serious competition for the public's attention, and I'm really not thinking the film has what it takes to hold its own against same.

[Still havent seen GL.... I heard so many terrible things about it]

Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

Is it wrong that I hope this spidey movie bombs hard? You know, so Sony decides its time to give up the ghost, and
LEt marvel get the film rights back?

Back on topic, I'm nt sold on the figure, though I do like the mixed media Of the suit.

Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

I hate this new attitude of all Marvel movies being crap JUST becuase Marvel Stuidos isn't at the helm :cuckoo:

The film looks awesome, end of.

Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

I LOVE the suit, but from this teaser i'm not loving the figure :(

The raised webbing is far too deep and the turtle neck horrible IMO, i'd have preferred a second BD figure with the HS where is doesn't have to have the nasty turtle neck.

However i am very much looking forward to the full reveal, a positive thing to take away from this teaser is it's very close up, so from a realistic distance it'll look much better :)

Personally I think having a sculpted neck would be to the detriment of the figure so they've had to sacrifice screen accuracy for looks which is the right thing to do imo

Obviously like you said having a second BD figure with no mask would be a way of removing the decision entirely but I guess there's nothing to suggest a BD figure wont still happen and for those who want an unmasked look with screen accuracy that would be the one to get

That honestly has nothing to do with it; I just think this franchise needs a rest of at least ten years' duration.

I agree. I'm really surprised at how well Fox handled X:FC, and Sony looks to be handling Spider-Man well this time around. I still think Marvel Studios would do a better job, but that is not to say other studios are doing anything less than great. I'm extremely excited about this movie and I love the new designs.

It does, and that's not the reason.

Marvel is big on crossover stories, that's the reason.

Peter Parker's parents were killed by red skull, they were undercover shield agents. Red skull framed them as traitors to America and shield. Parker eventually clears their names.

We will never see that story because of how the films are licensed.
tHATS why. Tons of crossovers we will never get to see.

And yes, fox did ruin xmen with x3. First class was a little better, time will tell if they ruin it again.

Wow, is that really Parker's original backstory or something implemented much later?

it happened during the 1990s; a lot of people were really upset about it, since it seemed a bit TOO MUCH and too unbelieveable.

For more backstory on this, allow me to suggest Adam Troy Castro's groundbreaking "Sinister Six" novels; best comic book text novels you'll ever read. Seriously, and I am a tough critic.

Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

I don't know, I suppose I'm fine with the retcon because I was a kid in the 90s and it seemed cool. It's pretty unbelievable, and not really resolved. I like where they are going with his parents origin in the new movie actually, it looks interesting and believable.

Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

Please let this not be a Bane & forgotten teaser

Don't think so. It seems HT has found a way to get on schedule with movie releases now. We'll see Bane and Batman right before the movie I suppose.

Re: Hot Toys The Amazing Spider Man

I was thinking of buying another black spidey to display with mask off but depending on how this turns out could pick up 2 of this one to use tobeys head with maybe ....just a idea have to wait and see....
