I can totally understand him wanting to perfect the movies he created, make them the way he always imagined them..but I don't see why he can't release an uneditted version on dvd/blu-ray for the MILLIONS of people who prefer it the way it was when it came out..the way they remember it.

It just seems selfish imo..

I dont feel sorry for the man. Although I do have great respect. None of us would be here if it weren't for him.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the article I read has to do with Lucas not getting any backing from Hollywood studios for making and promoting Red Tails since the main cast is all black and he was told the studios didn't know how to market a film with no main white characters. That was what triggered Lucas' "I am retiring from Hollywood" outburst. I think the excerpt distorted the original story line.

A continuation of the first films would probably have been better. i wanted to see what happend to Luke Han and Gang after ROTJ. He could have done it in the 90's but the actors are probably to old now, cant see Mark Hamill swinging His lightsaber now not with that Jabba gut. Would have been cool to see the knew Jedi order though. but in his mind 6 was probably the end.

Well Lucus has a black girlfriend so he has to act like he is a little upset,,,,I'm black and i waiting to see that in the Red Box not at the movies. Just not a movie i want to watch in a theater, black or white lead actor who gives a crap

I have mixed feelings about Uncle George retiring. I agree the Prequels were disappointing with his writing and direction but since the story is well established new films could have be made under new direction. I'd love to see a Boba Fett live action film which probably wont happen now. But on the other hand I've met him a couple of times at events here in the Midwest and he looks pretty happy with his new girlfriend so he should enjoy his twilight years without the criticism.

Your argument is redundant, no one forced you to watch any of the movies made.

Lucas away's said that he was making the movies he wanted to make and as such was financing them all himself. The fact that we all went and saw them, then bought the DVD's and will probably go see the 3d re- releases is what keeps him making the movies.

So is Lucas to blame or is it the fans? The fact is he is open to critique, but has earn't the right not to listen.

Hey Mr. Lucas. How is your retirement going so far?

If someone wins an award for "Parent of the Year" or "Parent of the Decade" and then proceeds to beat their kids are they above criticism? Do they deserve the same respect they did in the past?

No.

No.

Ok so making a movie that isn't as good as expected is like beating your kids?

How about this analogy.

Your mom makes you this food. It's the greatest dish in the world. You ate it every time she made it, and every time was like an orgasm in your mouth. She has the recipe written down and stashed away.

Years later, your mom makes you the same dish. It's terrible. You go...alright. Just a mistake. Not a big deal. She gives you that same crappy dish 2 more times.

Then you ask mom to please use the recipe to make that same Delicious dish again.

She says "I don't like that dish. It's not as good to me. So I already changed it, and threw away the recipe. Sorry."

That is what George Lucas did.

Better analogy and I agree the last 3 or even 4 SW films were bad but I still LOVE the 1st couple (original) SW movies so I wish George the best in his retirement.

She says "You're 30. Move out. And STFU about the SW prequels already."

Special Edition.

No, my analogy was better. :lecture

SW isn't a meal he remakes from scratch every night. Its a child he envisioned, conceived, and raised to be a great humanitarian many years ago and now abuses on a regular basis.

:yess:

As I said before I really don't care what George does or doesn't do anymore. At the end of the day his original movies were saved by some heroically motivated fans so it doesn't really matter what analogy anyone wants to make about his past or current actions. :)
