Maybe the board hates you for whatever reason, but goddamnit, I agree with every thing you just said. :lecture

Except for the hate on Predators. I still love that movie. :D

He seemed mortally wounded, though, so it was also more humane than him just suffering for awhile before dying anyway. In that sense, he is. . .sort of rewarding himself. :lol

I'm not denying that this may been the rationale behind Predator behavior in other films. But in P1, I don't see any evidence to suggest that you kill yourself if you fail to succeed in the hunt.

Thats how I always saw it anyways, kinda like "Ah you got me. Ok fine. You win" But still hoping to kill Dutch in the process. It is also a code/rule because they are not to leave any traces of their presence on earth.

I kinda wonder though, if Dutch had stopped him from detonating the bomb, if the Predator ship would have shown up to offer him a "Reward" the same as they did to Harrigan in P2.

(Ok not canon), Batman was rewarded a similar reward in Batman vs Predator for defeating that Pred as well.

P1 is pretty vague and mysterious about the Predator race and as a stand alone film really leaves it up to the viewers imagination and beliefs.

For ages i always thought the self destruct was there purely to end one's suffering and / or to eradicate evidence of your existence. While it does both these things i think its more some form of kamikaze device. Because if you wanted to end your own suffering a mini nuke is a bit excessive. And mini nuke cannot be the only way to " clean " evidence of their existence. Considering they have been coming for a long time there must be bunches of times a Predator has bit it in an instant death and not had any way to activate the device. So there is surely a cleaning squad.. i would want to say like the lost clan. Or similar to when we saw Wolf observing. There must be some pred monitoring all the predators out there and saw the hunting battle with Dutch until the un masking then shortly after losing contact.

... Or else every now and then a Predator body or two would turn up.

Wolf Predator was the stupidest pred design of all, very ugly, not to mention he comes form the worst film of all of them. Enough said.

There are only 2 pred movies to me, 1 and 2. Same with the Alien movies, there are only the first 3 and for me they end there.
Oh please dont mistake my critique of wolf as an admition that I felt that the movie AVP-R was good, or that I believe he can be compared to the original pred. I just simply feel wolf was a step in the right direction when compared to the other sequals. yes he was the ugliest, but I was under the impression that predators were expected to be some ugly mofo's. I'll give you that his design was a bit visually busy but I love his weopons and thought the dual canon idea was awesome. Also I liked the idea of a predator movie based on a predator completing a mission rather than just a random hunt.

For those that enjoyed watching Predator 2 over Predator 1, which did you see first?

I've watched all the movies in order of release and so far none can hold up to the very first.

In terms of the character only, I think P2 is cooler in every way. Weapons, horns(?) growing under the lower mandibles, color pattern on his crown, and biomask I find all to be more appealing.

I think that's just silly. Predators are too cool for samurai shat. :D
I dare you to say that in the HT Samurai Predator thread. :lol

....and the books don't suck, atleast the AvP ones don't. They don't go into the whole Samurai/honor/respect, stuff near as much as AvP the movie did... I mean, one thing I really hated about AvP was the whole Predator god crap. I don't like the idea of them coming to chill at Earth and have us fan them with big leaves, etc..
Isolated events only..like Predator, Predator 2, Predators..etc.

On the subject of Wolf... Super tough expert Cleaner Predaturd on a mission to rid Earth of evidence and keep his race's presence unknown..starts throwing skinned Human bodies up in trees, and then the whole ego fight with the Predalien..don't blame him though, blame the morons who made the movie.

But the only time P2 fitted in was on board his own space craft.
same as white/black p1 in green jungle.
That's why he chose the concrete jungle - it's easier.
it would be so cool if you stopped fitting societies and their ideas and started watching movies. and their ideas. but that pass is closed for you.

Predator is still my favourite as well. Predator 2 would probably be the next best, and I agree, it was just as awesome and way more violence :lol

To me, P1 is a B movie yet very solid, but P2 is a swiss cheese. It's some sort of guilty pleasure to watch like Snakes on a Plane. Stephen Hopkins also directed something like... The Reaping? :p

I see the usual AVP/ Wolf Preds came into the debate when debating about City Hunter.:lol

The first two Predator films are head and shoulders above anything else made after them but I still believe Wolf is the third best Pred created. He looks and acts the most Predator like from any of the films after P2.

It's funny the amount of people that slag the Pred designs off but then go and spend crazy on the Hot Toys figure for them.

Wolf was a bro! My favorite Pred of all simply because his whole design went against everything you expect a Predator to be, it showed the diversity of the species. He was tall and lean, and way more tech savy than previous preds. First of all having a pred inspired by Pulp Fiction was awesome all by itself. You know you fkd up when the Wolf has to clean up your mess. He wasn't there for competitive sport, it was all business. And on top of that, without any dialogue or background story, they established that he was a true Vet. Not like these pretty faced noob SuperPreds. He had actually seen combat and survived. So much personality and character for a Pred.

Honestly i view the Super Preds as adolescent amateurs who didn't know what they were doing. All 3 of them seemed very young and arrogant. Tracker died like a btch, approaching an enemy that was not fully incapacitated, too eager. Rookie mistake. And Falconer, the way he fought Hanzo. Just waiting for the opponent to attack, like he was showing off. Instead of initiating the strike and ending the fight himself. I half expected Falconer to explode like a Power Rangers enemy when he fell over. And Then Berserker, who throws a Tantrum, when Classic gets released, who was probably his camp counselor. Its like when Bart takes over Camp Krusty on the Simpsons, Berserker was Bart.
