I gave up on waiting for Athena I cancelled my preorder and filled out Amok's form to let me know when the product becomes available. I lost track of how many times her release date has been pushed back.

Well, I don't mind waiting for the figures.
If Amoktime needs another year to produce them, that's ok.

But they should tell us!
I preordered the figures a long time ago.
Shouldn't they send an e-mail to all who pre-ordered and say that there is a delay?
Shouldn't they answer my mails?
Shouldn't they update their website?
But I do not hear anything from them. They are still there, aren't they?

Well, they recently released the Barbara figure from Night of the Living Dead, as well as the mom from Lost in Space and some weird vampire chick (see Mike Crawford's review site, Captain Toy), so it looks like they're still churning out product. Just not nearly as quickly as they should, in my opinion.

They updated their website (completely new design!).

No news on BSG though ...

I don't mind waiting another year if it means we get the long talked about new Starbuck and Apollo. Waiting another year for older announced characters who aren't even the main two, with no guarantee we'll actually get them is just plain annoying.

The sculpts are as good or better. The bodies were on par but I think they've been redone and, if thats the case, then they'd be better. Attention to detail on the outfits has always been very good.

To clarify a bit- Majestic Studios had the original four figures of Apollo, Starbuck, Adama, and the Cylon (gold and Silver). As a classic Galactica fan I was happy to see anything, and the Cylon isn't bad. I bought multiple. From there on it's all a matter of opinion. The human likenesses are bad to cartoonish and the clothes material is cheap and baggy.

Now that Amok Time has bought the rights an taken over the molds, the preview pics of thier upcoming characters (Tigh, Boomer, Athena, Cain) all look to have great likenesses, but have continually been delayed and not released yet.

The only BSG releases they made are re-releases of the Cylons (not with skirts), and Lucifer with light-up-head. I don't have Lucifer, but his body shape, which is different than a humans in the show with longer neck and sloped shoulders, didn't look accounted for on their figure, so he is on a basic body. Maybe if someone here has him they can verify that or give a review with pics?

Hmm. So I visited the new updated Amok Time website today. The new upcoming Galactica figures aren't on there anymore at all. They appear to be totally taken off the site. That can't be a good sign, even if they got Sideshow to distribute, no?

I re-put forward the suggestion we need to get someone to sculpt us a new Apollo and Starbuck (and Iblis!)

Alright, Googling around, Big Bad Toy Store has the ship date for all of the new Amok Time Galactica figures (including Lucifer) for second quarter, 2010.

I thought Lucifer was out because I saw him up on E-bay, but upon investigating it was a pre-order. Sorry!

Just wanted to throw up a collage showing how far off spec the Amok Time Lucifer is at the moment (I have pics in the collage of Spectre as well, being a IM series model). Looks like they did try to go for his different body shape which is good, but the head is pretty off up where the dome starts (too high), the face's color scheme is wrong, as is their choice of material for his robe. Considering there isn't much to do to make him, that's kind of annoying. Even if I bought him when he comes out and just repainted him, the head is still off and I'd have to sew whole new robes anyways because it's not THAT hard (and I can't even sew well).

As excited as I am for Boomer and Athena, it seems unless they fix Lucifer before he's released I'd be better off just customizing one to make him accurate, and he shouldn't be that hard to do.

This is really lame - the new BSG was the best scifi series on TV in a long time, and one
of the best series on TV period during its first few years.

if the creditcard that I used back in march last year is my current one.
Well, it probably doesn't matter since the figures will most likely never be released...

Just to tie in with what I reported a few posts back, tonights Sideshow Newsletter also officially announced the Classic Galactica figures updated release dates to 2nd Quarter 2010.

I had no idea that SS had taken over selling the figures! I had waited patiently for a few years, but now I've missed out!
