Hey there, couple of quick questions...

I don't have a Detolf yet, but I'm planning to buy one this summer.

I read on the Ikea site that there isn't a built in light in the Detolf but the hole to put the light in is drilled.

Any recommendations on the lights I can build in?

And also, if the lights stay on, say every evening or so, will it cause damage or discoloration to the figures???

Thanks in advance :)

Just came back from my vacation in San Francisco and scored a free detolf. Since I live in Hawaii and they don't ship I got one up there. Plus it was free to check it in the plane since I'm in the military, they even let me check in 1st class too. But the bad part is when I was at the baggage claim they sent it through the conveyor belt even though I wrote all over it GLASS and FRAGILE. But when I inspected it nothing was cracked. I really hope they open a shop down here.

Ikea has some lights that fit perfectly in them, not sure if they have a name or not.

i know this is about detolfs and other other complete shelving systems - but I didn't want to create a new thread for such a silly question.

Where does one find those plastic risers used mainly for GG busts, but they are also made in small shelves as well, like 3-5 busts per shelf and they usually have 3-4 "steps"

the ones I have seen are clear and stumbled across a website that dealt them some time ago, but can't recall it now.

any help is greatly appreciated.

I just went to Ikea yesterday and picked up a double wide Besta with the Tombo glass doors. Took me about 4 or 5 hours to set the dam thing up (doors are kind of pain) but I really do like it. I will take some pictures of it later. Also they are having a deal if you spend so much money you get gift cards. With the double wide Besta system and 6 doors I got $100 gift card.

I know you asked for pics of mine but I wont be doing that til Im done with everything.
So what color did you get? I went with Beech effect. Sounds like you got the tall 75'' one if you got 6 doors.
Looking forward to seeing your pics

I ended up getting the black-brown one. I did like the Beech effect but the black-brown matched our other stuff. I do need lights though to illuminate the inside a bit which probably isn't as big of a deal on the beech effect.

Cool
I dont have them but my buddy has the Dioder lights in a black billy and it looks pretty good. They are $40 for 4 lights. Little expensive but nice. The halogens look good too but not as clear or white as the Dioder.

Here is a picture of my new Besta shelves. Not much in them yet.

Looks nice!!

I still can't get my 3 Tombo glass doors to line up with my Besta. It overlaps by a few inches. Putting together the Besta cabinets took me a short time...those Tombo doors took me awhile...I gave up with the last door and put it on a single Besta.

Thanks guys.

Yes they were a pain. It works best for me to make sure that the height on all of the hinges on one side was the same, then the right side I adjusted according to the left side, just takes a lot of tweaking with the screws. The last one on the button was a pain though and I had to lower the screws that connected the hinge to the actual door just a tad. It brushes on the ground a bit but I just need to raise the height of the shelf a tad but by looking at it you can't tell. It definitely took me a good hour or two to get it straight.

What's a really good display cabinet for Hot Toys figures? My collection's getting pretty big and detolf's just aren't doing it anymore.

I'd really like to display all of the new Terminator figures together as well as my Aliens, Marines, and Predators, but I can't seem to find anything that's wide enough to do this. If you could remove the panel between that double besta, It'd probably be perfect, but I don't think you can.

Any input would be much appreciated.
