Yes it does, because you are comparing apples to oranges and stating a opinion as fact.

One is a still news, highly advertised movie made by well-known director. The other is a 2 year old movie not advertised and buried on a third tiered streaming platform with a director no one has heard of.

And "predicting" how people here will act to a hypothetical situation isn't a fact as you are trying to present it. Fact is you don't know how people would of reacted if Secret Headquarters had better advertising, made by a known director, and was on Netflix.
I'm not presenting it as fact. I'm presenting my opinion.

In my "opinion" saying Ant-Man 3 and Rebel Moon share a similar amount of expectation and attachment is ludicrous.

When you say things like

I'm not saying it wouldn't. I'm saying nowhere near as much.

You are presenting your opinion as fact.

And this isn't in reference to your AntMan3/Rebel Moon argument, it's your claim that the board wouldn't treat Secret Headquarters as harshly as they would Rebel Moon.

True, I'm making an assumption about the de-aging but it's blatantly obvious that after that length of time people are going to look different. Abbie Cornish was in the most recent season of Jack Ryan and she's changed quite a bit from her Sweet Pea days. Time marches on for everyone. And regardless of whether "they" (the actors?) do it for free, bottom line someone, somewhere will need to be paid to make it happen. Many someones, in fact. No one in that business does anything strictly out of the goodness of their hearts. Also, I DID say that Snyder wasn't alone among directors in doing this (Ridley Scott is another as Kebron has pointed out), I was just citing it as one reason ZS can turn people off. As a fan of the genres he frequents perhaps I just hear more about his director's cuts (or he's using social media more to drum up support)?

As for "why I care", I'm not a Snyderette but I have enjoyed some of his movies in the past (Watchmen, 300, MoS) so I don't just write his stuff off. As I've said, he makes movies in the genres I like so if it's a film that looks like it has potential I'm going to check it out. But frankly, recently I've found his thought process quite baffling. It's fine that he has another, longer cut of Rebel Moon coming in the Spring, but WTF did he announce that before the first version drops on Netflix? All that did was annoy the majority of the target audience, unless he only views his diehard fans as the target audience. Somehow I don't think Netflix would agree with that. It seems to me that dropping the PG-13 and R versions simultaneously would have been a better call - his complete, true vision is available for critics to see (if it's truly a better version, the ratings might improve as well) and viewers can pick which one they want to see (or allow their children to see).
Jesse Plemmons in El Camino is a good example.

That's it though, isn't it. No one is doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. It gets paid for by people who want the content. Who loses financially without a choice here?

I've said this before. Netflix gets 4 releases from 2 movies on their platform. Rebel Moon was the number-one movie worldwide for a week. Other than people wanting the other version (which is not a bad thing) where's the real problem here? You don't have to watch the PG-13 version. You can just wait. If Cameron did this, which he has spoke about I don't think it would get the same amount of complaints

The problem is in todays oversaturated world of watchable content, Why would someone who isn't a fan of Snyder's, or liked Rebel Moon a lot go watch a R rated version of something that was meh to them?

And?

Let's not pretend Snyder himself doesn't have his own large built in fanbase.
It's not his fan base that is ripping Rebel Moon apart though.
Ant-Man 3 is bad, the fanbase rips it apart. People who are invested in the MCU don't care, they might watch, maybe comment and move on. They don't keep repeatedly mocking it.

Maybe they won't. It might not work out. Time will tell.

Ummm have you checked the threads for Indy 5? The Star Wars Saga? Book of Boba Fett? People still commenting on those threads long after they were released. Hell looking beyond this board people making a living off of bashing the sequel trilogy years later. These are all people who are self proclaimed fans of Indy/Star Wars. Rebel Moon been out like one week and you are complaining people mocking it more then those? lol

Nope you are not weaseling out of this one.

Your statement of I'm not saying it wouldn't. I'm saying nowhere near as much. Isn't presenting a opinion. You are stating a fact as if you have evidence that the subject is no "nowhere near as much" In order to assert your statement as holding more weight then the person you are arguing against, when it doesn't. Thus you are presenting your opinion as a fact.

Maybe. No one knows the future, but going from what the past can tell us, it will most likely not get a higher number of viewers then the first release.

I just find it a peculiar strategy is all. If (as I believe Alatar asserted at one point) the hopes were that this would become a franchise property with multiple sequels & possibly spin-offs (?), it just seems to me that he should have led with what he considered the best version of the film. As it stands now, there's a lot of negative reviews to overcome from both critics and the general audience, making it all the more difficult to change their minds with the extended R version, maintain their interest in Part 2 and attract additional viewers. Fair or not, given all the content available to us now a lot of people depend on word of mouth and reviews to determine what they do and do not watch. Leading off with what may be the lesser version just seems unwise to me.

I agree with you about Cameron, but considering one of his movies (Avatar) likely earned more worldwide than all of Zack's movies combined, he's got a much better track record in the eyes of critics, the audience and the industry itself - i.e., he's earned everyone's trust. Relatively speaking, Zack has not.

I meant to say People who areN'T invested in the MCU don't care

Rotten Tomatoes score has not budged from 23%

It's odd, when I googled RM last week or two ago, the RT score was provided in the side column... but today, it has been removed.

You mean you needed to move the goal posts again?

Generally people who aren't invested in the MCU wouldn't go watch Ant Man 3, or go to a forum to talk about it. IT would make sense the same is true with people not interested in ZS or Rebel Moon.

Are you saying people who aren't interested in ZS or Rebel Moon are talking bad about Rebel Moon?
