What a surprise….all the negative nellies out for a spin after 1 trailer….

Looks fine to me so far. Good production values from the sets, wardrobe and action sequences…

thats about all one can say?

Definitely tome travel….Dial of Destiny? That has to be a time travel plot device.

So I take it you like Crystal Skull then?

Waaaay too heavy on the CG. That's one of the great, endearing things about the first 3 Indy's - no CG.

The horse scene is horrendous and worse for me, the scene where he jumps onto the tram thing.

It's looking like the leaks/rumors have been potentially accurate.

Just to be a stickler for detail because I can’t help myself lol - Donovan’s death is a digital composite with practical puppets. Sorry, I have a disease!! :)

I don't even know what a "repertory cinema" even is... and I'm too lazy to Google it, but not write a comment.
It’s a cinema that shows a mixture of old and new movies. The Astor is the cinema and they are also showing Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio next week. I think repertory cinema comes from repertory theater which meant they had a set of standard plays they would rotate through.

Ah, thanks for the explanation.

I’m really surprised how many people in this thread and others are skipping the cinema more and more. There is no way I’m not seeing this in the cinema, it’s a completely different experience I don’t care how big people’s tv’s are. I’ve seen every Indy movie good and bad at the cinema and that ain’t going to change. As an aside, Raiders is a religious experience for me at the cinema. Cinema is going to bite the big one eventually, hopefully not in my lifetime.
For me personally the cinema experience has become much less attractive due to a new generation of movie goers, who lack all kinds of manners and don't respect the phones-off rule.

I keep hearing about this on the board ... I imagine malls where a lot of bored kids go may be like this, but here in Canada the audiences are just fine for the most part. Or maybe I've just been really lucky.

In my experience there's no such thing... 😉 Maybe I just need to grow up and watch movies that draw a more mature audience

I will watch this at the cinema, but because of the respectful side, or lack there of, we have a thing in Oz called gold class. Really not sure if other countries have it or not, but you pay more for the ticket, get your own recliner seat spaced from the others in pairs, so there is a total of about 30 in the cinema only. And can have really nice food and drinks brought in to you during the movie at whatever time you want.

This is how I would like to watch Indy 5. I hate it when people stick their legs into your back or would rather play on their phone than watch the movie.
I'd rather add to a positive experience viewing this way than being pissed at the rude person sitting behind me

Yeah you do get that a bit although I’m finding it has decreased in the last few years. The most common thing is pulling out your phone which I just don’t get. You pay a premium to go and watch a movie but some people just can’t cope putting their phone away for a few hours? I sometimes politely ask them to put it away and it works most times.

This reminded me of Police Academy series where we all saw the first 3 movies and were entertained but they kept making them while nobody was watching them.

Oh I'm for sure seeing it, but I'm looking forward to Cocaine Bear more.

We do have theatres with what's called 'VIP' seating here. I watched Endgame with a nice Old-Fashioned and decent snacks in a reclining seat.

I stopped doing Gold Class. It was great for awhile but phones and talking started to increase there and the constant bringing food in got annoying. If it’s on at Imax that’s where I go. If not I find a cinema with older people. For the most part, much more mature. :)

Imax is a great viewing experience too. Which is your closest one? Mines a decent drive away

I’m in Melbourne, Australia. It’s the only one in Oz and I’m a 10min drive from it. The Sydney one is being rebuilt and it’s taking a loooong time I guess partly due to covid. It closed in 2016 which is quite unbelievable. From what I hear it will be the biggest Imax screen in the world. Maybe next year.
