People need to feel good about themselves. Feel superior. So, we get this crap.

That is the point of Triumph of the Human Spirit theme in so many movies -- an every person overcoming insurmountable odds.

Sometimes it works (Star Was ANH) and sometimes it doesn't. You could say it was ridiculous that farmer Luke was such a good pilot he could kill the Death Star.

Truthfully, no one in any Predator movie should be able to kill a Predator, not even mud-covered Arnold with some sharp sticks.

Reminded me of playing the 2010 Aliens vs. Predator game. I only enjoyed playing as the Predator because they had the best of both worlds.

Playing as a Marine was both terrifying and frustrating, because you always seemed on the verge of being hopelessly swarmed by Aliens.

Playing as an Alien was really trippy due to the graphics and the speed of movement. It gave me weird, feverish nightmares. Spinning round and round in black and white swirls, seemingly endlessly. :panic:

I had a lot more fun being a Predator. :devil
That game was awesome. Loved the Club Hive part and switching vision modes as the Predator.

Come to think of it, the old AvP games on the PC were amazing too.

Where's my new HT figures already!!!

Liked it. Was up there with P1, 2 and Predators.
The face was bad. The face was really...really...bad.
Otherwise...apart from the 100% forgetable music and no main theme...it was great.
Yeah, good movie, rubbish Predator and not just the face.

How can they make this in 1987...

Then this in 2022...

The 'Club Hive' didn't sound familiar, so I had a look for my copy of the game.

I can't believe it but it was the 1999 version not the 2010! So long ago.

Weird seeing Windows 95/98 on the box. :lol

Playing as an Alien was a mind altering experience, and the only way to survive as a Marine against the Aliens was to forget shooting and keep running, and hope you make it to the end.

I agree, and disagree... :lol

In SW lore Luke wasn't a normie. He was the offspring of the most force sensitive person ever born. He had natural abilities he wasn't even aware of (nor at the time was the audience though).

Arnie is/was, well, Arnie. :lol And a special forces monster. For the character in question, I'm sure he faced and overcame threats that were a tad bit superior than this girl. And he only won cause of the Predators arrogance to take him on one on one, without his weapons and technology as he felt he was a worthy and deserving opponent. The goal was to give him a beat down and show it's physical superiority. Over confidence caused his death. Then he ultimately killed himself. That was their way. Victory or Death. And honestly we'd never know, whether or not he'd have actually healed from his injuries. He was alone and would've been seen as a disgrace in the eyes of his brethren.

I could be wrong, cause I don't actually know how she won. And I really don't care. I've said I haven't seen nor really had any intention too unless it was universally praised. Whether she out smarts him or somehow physically beats him, its still yet another rehash of previous' movies victories over a Predator.

I'll take a rehash over whatever the ending to The Predator was.

There's nothing inherently wrong with going off the beaten path, but Hollywood often makes really stupid decisions when it does.

If your intention is to rewrite the Predator formula and do something different, you need someone who truly considers how their entry fits into (or expands) the franchise. I don't think Shane Black did. Or maybe he did, but his impression of what the franchise is about was way off.
