A hairdresser is a species from a bygone era...
Has final product rooted hair improved over the years with Hot Toys? The only one I've ever had is Sarah Connor (or rather T-1000 as Sarah Connor). Very clean, very straight hair - not great but not terrible either.
Hot Toys has done a lot more styling with their rooted hair over the past few years- there are curls and waves, and they also put some sort of product (almost like hair gel) in the hair so that the styling holds. It's easy for the hair to get frizzy if you style it for more than a few minutes, but a little water tends to reactivate whatever product they have.
I'd also add that sculpted hair generally works better for short or very elaborate hairstyles, while rooted works better for long, flowy hairstyles. Sculpted short hair can look quite realistic when painted well; but with long, flowy hairstyles, sculpted hair can easily look like a plastic blob or helmet (even if painted well).

AOU Thor had sculpted hair and can be posed properly, it depends on the hairstyle they are going for.
True. Unfortunately, HT doesn't do a consistent job when it comes to long, sculpted hair. For instance, the sculpted hair on TDW Thor, Avengers Thor, JL Aquaman and even Captain Marvel only allow minimal side-to-side movement, and none of them can look upwards at all. With that design approach, they're effectively taking some of the "action" out of our action figures. When they go sculpted for long hair, IMO they should be providing different hair pieces that can be swapped out and which provide further flexibility when posing. I recall them doing this for Resident Evil Alice, and she didn't even have long hair. IIRC Odin had two hair pieces as well (for posing with & without his helmet).

Before this hot toys version, this used to be the best gal gadot hs. But I find it to be more cartoony ver of gal rather than realistic.

Unreal has stated that he is not a master painter. His sculpts can really shine with a really good paint job.
