Sara, can we get a close-up shot of Frodo's face? From your photos it looks as though the look of distress on Frodo's face from the promo shots is absent in the final product. He looks relatively calm considering his ass is about to get worn out by 5 Ringwraiths. If that's the case, I think I'll be more than content with acquiring the non-exclusive version.

the adaptability of the display is absolutely awesome in this piece. takes the diorama to a whole different level. fantastic displays/photos in all of the above shots. should be getting my exclu tomorrow, can't wait!!

Well, number 100/400 is home and I am stunned. This piece displays phenomenally.

Do you remember the first time you saw FoTR and you held your breath for a second when the Wraiths closed in on Frodo and the Morgul Blade was drawn? The compelling "hunger" in the vacant hoods that you could almost feel?

I kid you not, this piece evokes that same feeling every time I walk up and look at it. The randomness of the poses, the dirt and weathered detail on the Wraiths, it is all here. The sculpt really does convey the momentum of the Wraiths so well that it seems more like a frozen frame in time.

As for the exclusive piece (Frodo) it is much bigger than I thought it would be. It can stand alone as a small display. The colors and detail are better than I have ever seen on a small piece.

The base reminds me of the detail on the Stone Trolls with moss and other natural feel to it. The "stones" and cracks have a movie quality look that help the base to complete the scene (look closely at the 5th pic below at the floor). Also, the "jagged" edge of the base compliments the rest of the scene perfectly. It almost suggests this scene was frozen in time and ripped from Middle Earth and sent to your door.

I am a very particular collector and have returned pieces that just didn't cut it. This is just spot on. It is as if your mind is looking for things that "should" be there, and they all are.

My mind is looking for a bit more surrounding, I hope I can find that. ;)

But in all honesty, it does look like the best dio yet.

I can say that a pillar or two would have been just amazing, I wont debate that. I would not suggest passing up on the piece though. There is a LOT to like about it.

Number 158/400 arrived today and I am blown away by how big it is.:horror

I was relieved that Frodo's likeness is dead on. I was also glad to see every piece arrived in great condition. This has now become my favorite diorama in the LOTR line.

I'll post pics of it when I can get to my camera, but for now you can just oggle the pics that others have already posted.:D

Btw, has anyone else tried sticking their Ringwraiths to the refrigerator?
I was going to take some pics of them raiding the fridge, but their just too damn heavy.:lol

You nailed that display, Vikingmagyar. If SS had presented the piece like that I might have bit.

Just don't like the visual of all the wraiths clumped together like the official display.

Thanks for the close-ups, Sara. I think I will be happy with the non-exclusive. For me Frodo is not needed. Especially if he looks off like that. Perhaps it's the lighting or paint work, but I was expecting him to look more like the promo shots. From the pics I've seen he looks like that kid everybody used to make fun of in the 6th grade.

I just got mine and what you are seeing in this photos is poor lighting. His face is excellent. The Frodo piece is large, well made and a great addition to the scene. In fact, its essential. If not, what are the Wraiths stalking?

Technically they don't have to have to be stalking anything to make for a profound piece. A diorama can be a lone figure, a scene with multiple characters, or no characters at all, but vehicles or creatures perhaps. Frodo may enhance the piece, or he can detract from the piece depending how you perceive it. I know a lot of people have grown accustomed to Sideshow's dioramas being Something vs. Something, but that is not a true definition of a dio. The Ringwraiths in this case can hold their own without the Frodo piece, which I think would be more visually interesting. To the casual viewer, it lends an air of mystery of who or what these dark figures are and what? exactly is their purpose.
