Great vid, Love that opening monologue to The Road Warrior, nice mods to the figs. :clap
Thanks bud! I cut the sides of the torso so the arms are closer to the body. I lowered the zipper and glued the jacket open. Just need a better sculpt now

Yeah the sculpt could be better, it looks pretty good in your video, maybe make it extra battle damaged? Im pretty sure a decent Max sculpt will pop up sooner or latter.

You've managed to bring out the best from this figure with your mods. The custom display base is fantastic.

I would be curious to see someone repaint the eyes. I think that alone may best bring out the "Mel" in the sculpt.
Thank you bud. Much appreciated

agreed, the eyes as well as the sculpt size really let it down

So here is my Max! I was completely underwhelmed when I opened this one up to be honest to the point I boxed him away with the intention to sell him on. After a few days I decided to have another look I then realised I may be able to salvage him.

My Mods included:

Cut away at the torso so the arms were closer to the body

Added the bandages and painted blood to them and the sculpt

Lowered the jacket zipper and glued it open as I felt it was done up to much

base was made by myself

hoping to one day upgrade the sculpt but until then I’m very happy with him!

It's a big improvement. As long as you're happy with him, that's all that matters.

Opening the jacket out is something I was thinking of, and it does add a lot to the look.

I was so disappointed with him on unboxing as well, that I thought I would just consign him to a high shelf and forget about him. Getting him to a point where I could bear to look at him again felt like a massive achievement. The urge to set fire to him immediately went away. :lol

It's also a bit late now, because you've already worked on him and glued the jacket, but a shorter body would've taken him to another level and made the proportions of the clothing work better.

I didn't understand why his shirt was untucked out of the box, until I realised that they'd designed the clothes for a Mel sized body, and then changed to bigger, taller body for production. The shirt was simply untucked to mask the discrepancy.

The prototype had correct proportions. i.e., jacket and trousers, and kneepad/boot gap.

Ordinarily I'd put it down to the prototype being photos of someone's custom figure, which would be borne out by the tiny production sculpt being a recast of said custom.

Yet, early on it was believed that this was an original sculpt and figure. Premier is a mystery, and the suspense for how Immortan Joe will turn out is one that I hope will soon be resolved. But not soon enough that they rush the figure out!

I got this today and it’s not even remotely the train wreck I was expecting. Actually quite a nice looking figure on the shelf. A body swap is a must if you want to pose him properly and with a little weathering and futzing he’ll be great for any collector who isn’t a Mad Max detail specialist. :D

This actually does look pretty good. My only suspicion is its a little undersized due to the small head, but for the most part everything comes together well enough. Do you have any photos of this Max next to other figures? I know most figurers are out of scale with each other but sometimes it helps to see a side-by-side relative comparison.

Great customs as all of your work btw.

Well you do sound upset (talking about self promotion and whatnots) at collectors buying these figures which is their prerogative.

As for asking for better product from those companies off course it's what we all aim for.

Still as some showed the base of this figure is great to do a decently priced Mad Max for those who can't or won't buy customs like yours and I do think that you could give your advices instead on pissing on everyone's efforts.

As I said I canceled mine and got flly refunded so I don't have a dog in this fight just being a good sport mate.
As you should.
I know.

How can y'all EVER aim to 'get better' by buying inferior/innacurate products? Eating the restaurant's off-chicken and going home with food-poisoning is not going to stop the restaurant serving off-chicken imho.

"can't or won't buy customs like yours"... thinking Accuracy and Attention-to-detail can be bought at low-baller prices, or can be achieved by sticking a cheap product from Asia ontop (other countries are available) then you see a person's Time & Effort as worthless.

I think the blind should continue to lead the blind... you certainly don't need someone like me 'giving advices'. God forbid Taste and Accuracy begin to rule in a hobby that is increasingly/almost totally now like a Schoolboy Jock Club... the more you own the louder you get to speak! Keep kissing and brown-nosing whomsoever thou chooseth...

Out.

With mine I never did photograph the stock figure alongside any other.

I did compare the sculpt with a variety of others, and took these photos against the HT Solo. The Max has a taller jaw section which props the sculpt up at a different angle, but the head is shorter front to back which places the hole for the neck peg closer to the front:

Therefore when placed ear to ear the Max head sits further back, and looks even smaller:

Just got the 'Wasteland Warrior' in. Swap out body (Ganhood 2.0) and Coco's custom stand on the way...

I can re-confirm that the only metal on this figure is the chain attaching the wrench and the zipper put. Leg brace and other metal items simply hard plastic.

I will post pictures when I have completed the porting over to the new body. Otherwise not too bad.
