Angry... is that what you're getting?

I think you've missed my point - maybe it got lost in translation - I haven't had to buy (as yet upto) three messed-up figures to cobble together another half-nearly-there-if-you-squint -at-it-looking figure - it's the people who inhabit this hobby who should be 'angry' and demand better, is all I'm saying.

More than happy with MY Riddick as I am with MY Max... feeling sorry for the store-bought versions is all.

Hey, 'Frog - mine are NOT FOR SALE so who's angry lol :ROFLMAO:
Great customs as all of your work btw.

Well you do sound upset (talking about self promotion and whatnots) at collectors buying these figures which is their prerogative.

As for asking for better product from those companies off course it's what we all aim for.

Still as some showed the base of this figure is great to do a decently priced Mad Max for those who can't or won't buy customs like yours and I do think that you could give your advices instead on pissing on everyone's efforts.

As I said I canceled mine and got flly refunded so I don't have a dog in this fight just being a good sport mate.
As you should.

thanks for the pics guy. Disappointed by this Premier Toys, have more hopes in the Dark Toys one.

I will receive Premier Toys in a few weeks and we´ll see ....

Maybe will try to pick the Present Toys "real leather" in evilbay.

Stretchy? The jacket and pants on this are stretchy? That can't be good for long life.

Like VTS' Tom Hardy pleather, it feels soft and durable.

I wound electrical tape around the bottom of the trouser legs to pull them down and bind them to the ankles. I had to take the tape off to readjust it, and there was no hint that it would cause any harm.

By "real" they likely mean it's reconstituted or 'bonded' leather. Which means it's a mix of both real and fake leather.

It is made from the leftover scraps and fibres made from processing genuine leather mixed with a polyurethane binder. These fibres are then rolled together using adhesives to bond them onto a paper backing. Some manufacturers may add an additional coating of polyurethane to the bonded leather and emboss it so it has the texture of real leather. Most bonded leather is comprised of only 10-20% genuine leather. Some manufacturers market bonded leather as real leather, when it in fact only contains a small percentage of genuine leather.

I just feel like stretchy pleather will eventually start pulling and cracking from its backing. Unless maybe there is no backing.

I didn't look inside to check. The jacket has a lining so you can't tell there.

The belt is the usual kind with the backing.

The two Tom Hardy figures are still like new. It's the kind of pleather that makes me confident that it won't crack.

Présent toy is real leather called cowhide.

''Leather coat * 1 (made of cowhide, imitating oxidation and easy to take care of)
Leather pants * 1 (made of cowhide, imitating oxidation and easy to take care of)
Belt * 1 (made of cowhide, imitating oxidation and easy to take care of)
Shoulder strap * 1 (made of cowhide, imitation oxidation and easy to take care of)
Leather boots * 1 (made of cowhide, imitating oxidation and easy to take care of)''

''Is cowhide leather real leather? Yes, cowhide leather, just like other terms that can be used to identify the leather, is of course "real" or "genuine" leather since the term simply refers to a material coming from the processing and tanning of a raw cow skin.''

To think of if I dodged a bullet.
My art figure dredd just decided to flack and it's heartbreaking (I live in temperate climate , my mms117 I bought 10 years ago with pleather is still good as new as it's thicker) so présent toys will be a safe bet if only for the clothes.

Back to positivity.
A french customizer worked on his, resulting the head, repaint et weathering. Still not a fan of the head, never was since proto pics but he did a good job overall.
It seems that he has preserved the body that comes with the figure, and in this photo the set seems more proportionate, doesn't it? It's strange, like almost everything in this figure ...

The proof will be in the pudding.

Lots of companies advertise with terms like "genuine leather", but you can tell it's actually more synthetic, with a machined pattern on the surface to imitate the real thing, and an artificial backing. Yet, because it contains a proportion of real leather fragments, they get to use the eye catching "real leather" specification.

However, "cowhide" is a very precise specification. It comes from the original BBICN forum listing, where the specifications were duplicated in both Chinese and English (and the Chinese also translates to "cowide" in non-Google translators too).

It would be good if they're actually telling the truth, but I wasn't counting on it.

In fact, one retailer, NeoGeek Toys, listed everything in the Present set as "Faux-Leather". Don't know whether that was an error, or whether they did that to cover themselves in the expectation it was going to be pleather.

That did seem strange. I guessed it was the original body because it had the same awkward left arm.

The effect in hand though was more off putting than in photos, just as the effect of the changing the body is conversely so much more effective in hand than in photos.

This was mine on the original body, with the bull neck, pinhead and weird arm:

And afterwards:

The shoulders aren't so wide or bulbous on the Ganghood 2.0, so while the jacket can't shrink it does fit more naturally, so he appears slimmer.

Oh ok.
I have seen more stores giving the cowhide detail but I will definitely ask around to be sure about it.

I imagined they'd all have used the original "cowhide" specs since it's a good selling point, especially in the far east. Unless retailers spoke to the Present team it would be all they had to go on.

Why NeoGeek took another route is only speculation.

But if Present are anything like Premier with their "metal" leg brace...

Asta, are you thinking of changing the head if a better one surfaces? I'm wondering if you change the head will it work with the GH 2.0 body?

Asta that looks great! Makes me wonder what some of the larger sculpts from the other two companies would look like on the stock body.

The head is still small, regardless of the illusion of the smaller body. So I think it'll work with a regular sized sculpt too. After all, QMx's Picard was on this body, and that was a regular sized sculpt. (QMx cut the neck off to accommodate the necked sculpt).

The stock body is an awkward thing to work with. Even after cutting the rubber torso away under the left arm I couldn't get the arm to hang naturally.

The rubber chest is also quite bulky, which is why he looked barrel chested in some of the early in hand photos.

Ah, ok. A lot more problems than just that thick then.
