Play Art Predators would have been amazing. Probably not accurate to the movie, but they would still have gorgeous sculpts, good articulation and paint as well.

Btw, how tall are these NECA Preds? Does anyone know?

I would assume taller than the humans, but can't say, and Wolf had a pretty wide stance and hunched posture so his height relative to human figures wouldn't be a good judge, these guys are more upright.

Really like the new articulation designes, much nicer than Wolf.

The articulation is awesome Maulfan. It allows for more poses and what not. I also am liking the new dread style. Looks cool' better than the clumps. Wolf is 7" hunched so i guess these will be 8".

i don't think anyone was "duped" since it's been repeatedly pointed out that the two-up is a prototype and not the mass produced figure.

No what I mean is, A LOT of people were saying the 7" figure shrunk down, was still going to look pretty close to the 2-up Prototype:

And I'm sorry but it doesn't. And I'm not just talking about the paint aps (which we all knew would be crappy).

The sculpt looks different. Even the torso came out different and that was one of the things I liked about the Proto. Now it looks kinda weird since the legs stayed the same thickness but the torso got thin and square. So he looks bottom heavy. :lol

It's cool for a $10 - $15 figure. Sure. But some people were talking about it (before we saw the finished product) like this was gonna be the best sculpt of P1 to date. And it's not.

I appreciate NECA trying to preserve sculpt, but especially creatures like this, articulation is so nice to have, and these figures still look great even with more traditional figure articulation.

Since I've been collecting NECA figures since they first surfaced, this is no surprise to me. :lol

Each figure is so different, you HAVE to buy them in the store. I wouldnt judge them for these peices of ____. The guy probably bought the worst ones. See, when you buy NECA you have to WADE through many figures to find one worth getting.

So there ya go.

You're right, the pudge around the hip looks smoothed out now, which sucks, I thought it was a nice detail that added to it looking like the real suit instead of an idealized figure.

What does that have to do with the sculpt? Paint apps I know vary from figure to figure and pay off buying in person, but sculpt's the sculpt, something bent or mangled might be avoided buying in person, but actual mass not being their from the proto sculpt isn't going to magically show up.

You'd be surprised. I saw 5 Aliens Aliens at TRU. One had messy paint apps. One was brown, had messed up ribs. One had jagged teeth that were dull. One had sharp movie accurate teeth.

It's very inconsitant. But i'm used to it.

If the only thing you're talking about is the love handles, then yeah, you'll never ever get those back....but oh well?

That's what I'm talking about, and it's certainly not the end of the world, just a shame they didn't translate over, it was a detail on the proto that really stood out to me and helped me feel like I was looking at KPH in the suit and not a figure.

I've noticed some detailing lost or softened, but this almost seems like a resculpt or someone at the factory didn't like love handles and removed them.

Exactly what I do. HT and higher-end stuff you can get online. With NECA or McFarlane, these are best bought in-store. Usually, I compare each and every one to make sure that whatever I buy has the best paint, no gaps between cut joints, no bent parts, etc. With lower-end collectibles, it's a ritual to be followed all the time.

I liked how they used more airbrushing on Wolf. Personally, the black dots all over the Classic's crown might as well have been replaced by plain brown/black airbrush if that's how they were going to make them.

A picture I took of my NECA AVP-R Wolf and Alien Warrior:

The airbrushed skin looks so much better. They didn't take this route with the Classic because it's not as accurate, and I guess it would be weird to have two Predators with the same skin.

Either way, I'm still getting these and don't feel ripped-off paying $15 each. Didn't have tremendously high expectations. I will admit I'm a little let down, but the final thing still looks like a NECA figure that I'd want for the collection and the price is right.
