Hmm, PayPal has an FAQ that says the below. But the FAQ also tells you where to get to a link to see their currency exchange rates, and there's no link visible where it tells you to go.

"We receive a wholesale rate quote from our bank twice a day and add 2.5% to determine the retail foreign exchange rate to apply to transactions that involve a currency conversion."

I guess we have to keep in mind this surcharge when price comparing between a Japanese store and a U.S. one. More of the damn eBay nickel-and-dime price gouging effect. :gah:

Paypal ALSO charges a 1% fee which they include so it's like 3.5% total. But it feels like more.

They asked me to resend payment in JPY format. Paypal charged me all those times but Paypal told me it was at their request.

Yeah their e-mail says to send in JPY format. If you send dollars then you'd probably avoid PayPal's currency exchange fee, but then it would be AmiAmi's burden to pay that 2.5%-ish surcharge to convert your dollars into yen.

PayPal also had a warning up that if I used a credit card to fund the purchase I would have to pay up to a 3% surcharge from my credit card company, but now I can't remember if it said that was instead of or in addition to PayPal's own surcharge, which in true socialist European VAT-tax style PayPal keeps invisibly hidden within their so-called exchange rate.

Yeah I saw something about a .5 to 1% additional surcharge, but only one out of a couple of the typically inconsistent eBay/PayPal help pages and FAQs that are frequently full of invalid instructions and broken links mentioned it. I couldn't quite nail down the exact percentage they tacked on to "exchange" the currency, since they refuse to itemize it for you and try to mislead you into thinking that's just THE exchange rate, but it looked like somewhere around 3% extra.

Except we don't get free health care in exchange! :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

To your point, I think AmiAmi IS paying their own surcharge on top already. Like 3.9% or something plus a transaction fee. It's good to be Paypal.

Wow, congrats on the turn-around! :rock

I got rid of my spared DC Direct DX Batman for a sweet $200 after paying $170 for it. And sold an HT Wolvie for $160 after piecing him together for a bit less than that.

Don't mean to be a braggart, but. . .let's just say I've got a future in investment banking.

My hat is off to another playa.

Also, congratulations on finding my post and not mentioning I put in the the wrong thread. :rotfl

Ordered and paid AmiAmi on Tuesday 7/5, shipped on Wednesday 7/6, and arrived at my house today 7/9. That's quicker delivery than if the set was coming from Sideshow, and $40-50 cheaper too :yess:

Again, i will take a Scarecrow off anyone's hands if you have an extra or you just don't want him.

M.

What figure did you want Mags? I already have the Demon Bats and had planned to sell him anyway. You already have the Scarecrow right?

:(

No interest in the Demon. I would pay $150 for another Scarecrow though...
