Why these got cancelled?

The purpose of this message is to inform you that we unfortunately will not be able to fulfill your preorder for item ENB10060 Real Masterpiece Jamie Foxx as Django 1/6 Scale Action Figure. We apologize for the many inconveniences this release has caused everyone. As most customers are aware, these figures created numerous conflicts and therefore the official decision was finally made to no longer produce the products. Due to this matter, all remaining preorders have been cancelled accordingly. Enclosed below is an official message Enterbay.

"Django Unchained has been targeted by a barrage of criticism for its depiction of slavery in America's Antebellum South in the 19th century. Among the most outspoken opponents of the merchandising move was Reverend Al Sharpton's National Action Network and director Spike Lee who called for a national boycott of the film and its merchandise.

The Weinstein Company has officially informed ENTERBAY to discontinue our Django Unchained figurine after receiving complaints that the dolls were offensive and trivialized the horrors of slavery. The Weinstein Company released this statement: "In light of the reaction to the Django Unchained action figures, we are removing them from distribution. We have tremendous respect for the audience and it was never our intent to offend anyone."

ENTERBAY would like to apologize to all customers who has already preorder this item. Please understand that we have no choice but to cancel your preorder and terminate this project. We apologize for all the inconvenience this might have caused you."

Expose the fact that neither Lee or the Reverend have seen this movie and that these are adult collectable and not toys for kids.

By their logic anything with a weapon trivializes violence. Any story with Nazi's trivializes the holocaust.
So their argument against these figures and indeed the movie is without reason or merit.

Both these individuals like to harp on about ignorance in society and yet they go and do this.

I would have karma up on these reactionary clowns!

Well I think a lot of the majority see a Django, but wonder why Mr. Martin Luther King Jr hasn't had a 1/6 figure. Tbh you don't honestly see many that much different race 1/6 figures. I mean wasn't Hot Toys' first recognized actor black figure Noland from Predators?

No. They did Octopus from Spirit, Blade, Rhodey as War Machine and Mark II Iron Man, several Michael Jacksons, and though the likeness wasn't there, Apone from Aliens. There were also several military figures and nude bodies with known actor likenesses. It's just the nature of the licenses they go after, not some preference not to do black characters.

As for MLK, we don't get many historical peace advocates as 1/6 scale figures for some reason. If he were a military warmonger like Hitler or Stalin we might have seen some.

Just saw the movie and enjoyed it thoroughly. Then, I started hunting to see if any of the big 1/6 players are offering these and stumbled onto this thread. I can't describe my excitement when I saw the thread title. And those proto sculpts. Without any thought, I decided to order Dr. Schultz and frantically searched for a link only to find out that the project had to be shelved. My excitement fizzled out akin to listening a lovely girl singing, liking it and someone telling me it's Justin Beiber

The reason for the cancellation? Boy, the less said, the better.
Haven't they already got some new fodder to create a fuss about? I seriously wish that after things cool down a bit, EB and those related find a way to release these figures.

Unfortunately, it's not EB's call. The only way we'd likely see these again is if Harvey Weinstein decided that it was time to hit puberty and let his ***** drop.
