I think that may have to do more with Marvel having crappy film villains in general - Thor 2 bad guy (forgot his name lol), Whiplash, Ronan, Mandarin.
Lest we forget the late Baron Von Strucker.

Spoiler:
As much fun as DOFP's Peter was. He was simply way too overpowered and literally just Bart Allen in a wig. Hell, he was more like Tommy Shepard than Pietro. Not to mention that was simply just a plot device. I know it just sounds fanboyish but I'm just happy that we got a comic book Pietro on screen in Age of Ultron. He was actually a character. I'd rather have that than a dude who shouldn't be as overpowered as he was and had only one thing to do which was break Erik out. I dunno, character > one standout scene for me.
I feel like, comparing the two, Avengers feels almost more like a giant highlight reel where AOU feels more like a full film. I actually like that the events of AOU unfold more naturally.
In regards to both Quicksilvers...

Too bad they killed him alreadyIt's the Whedon formula, first Cuolson and not QS. If he was going to do something so predictable like that, kill Hawkeye...not the guy with the cool powers
That was lame.

Thing is about Hawkeye though. He's in my top 3 favorite Avengers, hands down. I'd say that we definitely got more of the Clint from the comics in this movie. And I loved that. Just hated that they brought in his family from the Ultimate universe. XD He may not have powers but that's not why I like him. I just love him as a character overall. I actually said "**** you Joss" as soon as we saw bullet riddled Pietro. I was not happy with that. For once, I actually wouldn't mind if they brought someone back. I don't want Pietro dead at all. XD
Spoiler:
I liked it. A superhero died to save a kid and a guy that didn't like him. Way better than Coulson's death overall. Leave him dead so it will mean something. Unlike Coulson who's just a lie and hasn't even been in movies since.
Spoiler:
I have a feeling Wanda may be able to resurrect Pietro in Doctor Strange or something. I wouldn't mind either way since these movies already have more than enough characters.
Spoiler:
Quicksilver is alive!
1. Hill mentions he has cell regeneration or whatever
2. A cop shoots him in the arm early on, and it doesn't seem to bother him.
3. Scarlet Witch seems unfazed at the end of the film. Why isn't she mourning?
Spoiler:
the fight between Hulk and Iron Man...to me that stole the show. The ending paled in comparison a bit because I don't think Ultron really was as badass as I expected. He typically physically dominates a fight against the entire team but in this film he really wasn't. Vision was great though, and I loved the hammer scene (both actually). The post credit scene and the existence of Wakanda though were great little gems. Come on Black Panther!

Spoiler:
I thought she was mourning when she told Ultron that she already died
I think Joss Whedon has said publicly that he does not consider Agents of SHIELD part of the MCU and they should have left Coulson dead![]()
The entire third act is about saving civilians at the expense of their own deaths if need be. One of the heroes dies saving a kid. I think they covered their ass quite well when Quicksilver is more heroic than Superman.
