Fair enough. I like the expanded scope and higher stakes of Rises. An ''escalated'' story but not too ridiculously for this world. Tom Hardy was great as midget Bane, I mean they managed to sell me that he wasn't actually a midget. Best music score in the trilogy IMO.

Don't get me wrong there are things that disappoint me about the film on every viewing - the 2nd fight with Bane immediately comes to mind - just really underwhelming - it doesn't seem like Batman's strategy has changed, he still gets his ass kicked for most of the fight so there's very little catharsis. He wins in the end only because he's supposed to and the same strikes to the face that he's been laying on Bane the whole time (including the first fight) suddenly work. And Bale's batvoice becomes comically bad in their final exchange.

Yeah, the films all have their flaws. Even TDK, "Heat" it ain't. Nolan doesn't write emotional dialogue/moments very well. And so many of those emotional moments feel wooden and unnatural. They just come off like stiff monologues to me. Like Alfred leaving Bruce. Or so much of Bruce and Rachel interacting. Or even Talia's big speech at the end fo Rises and Batman just silently listening to it with that dumb look on his face, lol. But that's part of the charm I suppose, the clunky operatic movements of it all.
 
I am sure no one here including me can't even write/direct a short-film let alone a scene in it. But we criticize the movies of one of the greatest director ever and bash him like he is a nobody:ROFLMAO:

Boy this the last few pages are not what I expected. When I saw it get bumped to the top, I was hoping for some new images.

To each their own and I respect the views of those in the thread, but I can't help but disagree. The scene of Alfred leaving Bruce in Rises had me near tears on a recent watch. It's heartbreaking. I always thought Michael Caine killed every scene he was in throughout the trilogy. While I agree that the Bruce and Rachel scenes aren't as strong, I think the emotional punches in this Trilogy are very strong. To me, this is the best film trilogy I've ever seen (and I'm first and foremost a Star Wars fan). I honesty don't understand the hate Rises gets. Its a fantastic film and does what nearly every trilogy fails to do - stick the landing.

I love that this version of Bruce really does have a shot at a happy life with Selina after giving Gotham everything he had. The last scene with him and Alfred is so touching. And the set up with John Blake continuing as the Batman really makes me wish we could've seen it in some form. I know it would probably never live up to the trilogy, but I like knowing he probably carried on the legacy.

Here's to hoping Reeves's trilogy lives up to Nolan's. I just wanted to pop in to defend Rises a little. I'm excited to see it in theaters again in a couple weeks. I want that experience again. Also going to see TDK on Wednesday night.

What'd you think of the previous one? And how do you think this will stack up? I know it's a different take, but I do like the wet effects and lighting on this. I think it'll pop a lot more on any shelf.

The old one is legendary and has an insane shelf presence. It is like a reversable diorama. Can use both sides. So much versatile. Got the fusion reactor kit to ditch the batteries. The light is so beautiful. I am planning like a batcave setup. Let's see how it goes.

As for the new one, I like the wet effects and the cool white light. It will pop much more than the old armory for sure. The Bruce statue and the armory together will look stunning from a distance.

I am worried about Bruce sculpt being too waxy and slimy. The other thing is hope that plastic armory doesn't yellow over time. Apart from these 2 concerns, I am very much excited for this release.

I totally respect your opinion. BUT I think referring to the "hate" Rises gets is a misrepresentation. I don't hate Rises, as I suspect most other don't either. I just prefer the other films over it. I think when people say they like TDK or Begins best, they are seen as "hating on" Rises, but that seems a bit binary. It just didn't have the same magic to me, but I don't think it's a bad film. I hated The Rise of Skywalker, lol. There's a big difference.

I'm conflicted, I have and prefer the design of the Bunker Armory, yet to me a defintive Bat Armory (even imagined) has to be in the Batcave.
And just knowing it wasn't, is forever messing with my Bat-OCD.

Which somehow has me contemplating swapping it for the lucite one, even though I'm mostly indifferent to having a Manneqwayne, and prefer the look of the other one.:google

That aside, I would easily clear a shelf for the 89 Vault-Armory :wink1:

But that’s not our job. His job is directing. And Rises was a poor Batman movie.

I always get torched for it, but Rises is my favorite of the trilogy. I can subjectively say that TDK is a better crafted film from pure filmmaking and pacing perspectives, but Rises is my favorite anyway because of the emotional beats it hits. You have Bruce's despair becoming freedom by the end, you have him coming to terms with Rachel and finding love with Selina, Alfred's goodbye and his Apology, "Victory has defeated you!", the music...all of it. The Dark Knight is given reverence because of what it was - it was a comic book film the likes of which we had never seen before, and that informs how we look at it in hindsight - but Rises sticks the landing, it sticks it hard, and it has perhaps the most gorgeous cinematography of any comic book movie out there. Nothing, to me, comes close to matching the views we get with the scenery in The Dark Knight Rises. Colors, lighting, it's the best.

I'm with you on this film.
 
There’s so many things wrong with Rises as a Batman movie. From how Blake discovered Bruce as Batman, to how Bruce retires at the end, to giving up mantle of Batman to Blake, whom he barely knew. Bruce would never ever retire to live a happy life if he is still capable of fighting. That alone right there showed Nolan doesn’t understand the core of Bruce/Batman. There’s a bunch more things wrong such as the scene with armies of bad guys and police who all have guns yet decide to charge at each other like a medieval clash. I won’t go into more, but those are my main issues with Rises. I love Begins and Dark Knight, but Rises was a poor ending to a trilogy.
