It's all about JND now.

Wow... JND shows an insane new video showcasing the latest 1/6th tech of the future... and HT displays this as they reluctantly tiptoe into the future.

JND making the efforts HT should five years ago, I know where I'll put my money.
I'm not against JND as I have the Reeve Clark/Superman duo on reserve. However their prices are likely going to be approaching $1000 for a 1/6 scale figure. While all this new tech is great, we don't know how the durability or reliability will pan out. The moving eyes with the magnet is cool, but how long will that last or even the excitement. Sure it's cool now, but how I excited will you be for the subsequent releases and the moving eyes. I think it's only good for showing off to others. I remember when I first got into 1/6 scale figures. They were about in the $200 range, some less. Now look at them.
Oh and JND doesn't currently have the Star Wars or Marvel licenses.

still scratching my head why this figure is not a 100% remake but instead just only the freaking "Arisan upgraded hs". I'm willing to pay $400 + for a completely enhanced version...
HT will do a 2.0 of this with real leather good in a few years and charge more of course. That's how it goes with them. They don't want an ultimate or end all be all figure. Then collectors who missed this one won't want to pay for the crazy aftermarket prices and will gladly play an inflated price though for a slightly better version years later. HT cycle.

The proliferation of 2.0 has been proven to be strategic with Hot Toys nowadays. Tons of 2.0 completely revamped die cast versions of Ironman, Nolan's trilogy 2.0 Bale Batman - Catwoman - Bane and that recent BVS 2.0 Batfleck...and the list could go on and on.

But StarWars seems not to be the case, particularly this "Artisan Anakin", just an half-ass attempt from my opinion.

But we had DS Anakin with a slightly better robe. Now we get a LS Artisan Ani with better sculpt. Next we’ll get DS Ahsoka Ani with leather tunic. Then eventual 2.0 Artisan Ani with real leather. It’ll be a matter of time before HT does 2.0 for main SW characters. ANH 2.0. And people are waiting for it. Why spend eBay prices when you could wait a little longer get it. When is the question not if. HT knows this was an easy cash grab while still making something new to it in this case the sculpt and hair.

This would be my first Anakin Skywalker figure. To me this is a whole new figure. I never got previous versions because the sculpt wasn't there. Also at the time I was collecting MCU figures. The Mandalorian got me back into Star Wars.

While leather is good, I don't mind not having leather. It just adds more to the price, higher maintenance, and you won't really see a difference unless you're really examining the figure. Again it would be a nice "icing on the cake" but not needed.

Pleather is more high maintenance than leather because it degrades much faster, I'd rather pay the higher price for a figure that lasts. Having to pay $70+ for a leather Anakin tunic once yours degrades really sucks.

But we had DS Anakin with a slightly better robe. Now we get a LS Artisan Ani with better sculpt.
Which makes it even weirder that for this "Artisan" Anakin they went back to the inaccurate shorter robe from the first release.

just apply angelus matte finisher with duller and it should last a long time on pleather. do it on both sides if possible this ensures the pleather is sandwiched between 2 sides of clear flexible sealant.

Hi everyone.
Late to the party, I am on Sideshow's waitlist for this figure, which does not amount to much, anyway.

What about Toys Wonderland? They seem to have units left, but they have worked very hard to build a reputation for being unreliable and shady. Right?

Thx everyone.

Proceed at your own risk. A lot of folks have had major issues with them (myself included). I had ordered from them in the past (maybe over a year ago) and while they were sometimes slow to actually ship (i.e. hand it over to the courier) I never had an issue. More recently I placed an order (a few months back) and the item just sat and sat and sat with no update. I reached out several times with no response. I filed a claim with Paypal and got my money back (luckily) and moved on. I learned my lesson.

It's up to you, but sometimes a deal that is too good to be true is just that.

Please don't.

Toys Wonderland used to be somewhat legitimate. I got two figures from them a year or so ago (although I had to follow up on one order to make sure it actually got sent), but they've been progressively becoming shadier and shadier to the point that, in specific regard to this figure, they were/are taking pre-orders that are impossible to fulfill as there are only 3000 being made world wide.

Sideshow had I think in the end half of that total of 3000 (so around 1500), so with 1500 figures left globally, the idea that Toys Wonderland ever even had stock to sell to their customers in the first place is a joke, and the mere fact they're still selling pre-orders of it should tell you enough about how much of a scam they are.

They also appear to be selling it for a price that would mean they would lose money on every order, so it's far beyond it being a risk, it's guaranteeing you're throwing your money away.

They always have units left because they don’t have any. If you order from there then you’re not gonna get it.

Ask yourself how it’s sold out literally everywhere else except from their store? And they seemingly have unlimited stock of this extremely limited figure.

This. What you'll get is "store credit" when they discover that they "received fewer units from Hot Toys than anticipated". Depending on how many people fell for the scheme, they're basically keeping their business a float with a bunch of 1 to 1.5 year loans from collectors who will then only have the option to purchase something from their site later...which they may or may not ever receive. It's an HT ponzi scheme :)
