So not liking a movie now means you are too stupid to understand it? What happened to just having different tastes.

I guess I'm in an even smaller minority that likes BvS but doesn't much like MoS. It's the cringey dialogue in the latter that I don't like more than anything else. The female military officer saying he's kinda hot was one such example. Her smirk said it all, no need to add that silly line.

Thank you for being mature and not calling anyone stupid for having a different opinion.

So who do you all think is the best Superman and the best Batman? :lol :monkey3

People need to let go of Reeves superman and Keaton's Batman.....let be honest they are fairly sh&t. Ok when you are 10 but unwatchable now.

STM as great as it is for the time would be a box office dud and attacked critically if it were released today- as many many other of our nostalgic childhood favorites would be

I thought it was a pretty cute line myself.

Same here. Henry Cavill himself is supposed to be quite the hunk among the ladies, so mix that in with the fact that he's muscular, has near limitless strength and can fly faster than the speed of sound, yeah, I'm sure there's one or two ladies, even in uniform, who are going to find him "hot". :lol

No different than some of the lines that MCU has written for some of the ladies regarding Thor, which I found to be funny as well.

They tried the Reeve copy cat film with SR in today's world. Didn't go over so well. Not enough action was one of the main gripes (which in my opinion, it had about the same amount of action as STM, maybe even more).

I hope this figure gets release soon.....

Same here. Especially after seeing WW, I just want a WW HT figure! :gah:

Well yeah. At the time it was the first major film based on a superhero (other than Batman: The Movie but really that's just an extension of the series) and it was a totally different time than we're in now with superhero films coming out on a regular basis multiple times a year. The Reeve films are good for the time they were made but may have not aged the best. I still like them for what they are though and Reeve basically embodied everything that Superman is.

My sentiments as well. I can't imagine someone in their teens or 20's watching them though without laughing hysterically.

Even though there's many people who detest Cavill's version of Superman in preference of Reeve, I've seen just as many people say they used to dislike Superman, but now like him based on this current rendition.

Yea, granted the Reeve movies have not aged the best and Superman movies needed an update. But why does that mean throwing out the baby with the bathwater? Reeve's characterization still holds up perfectly.

Why can't we still maintain Superman's optimism and idealism, and completely ditch Cavill's gritty realism? Bring back brightness, color, and hope and ditch the washed out color palate and troubled and brooding aspects of his characterization.

Why is it that "some elements from the 70s need to be updated" interpreted as "There is nothing at all from those movies that can be carried over to today".

Bring on the in hand WW pics! I'm psyched to see the production piece in more than just that one photo!

There's aspects from Reeve's Superman that I think were still carried over. I don't think everything was completely ditched in favor of something completely different. I believe it was more the gray areas per se where there's wiggle room to tell the story in a different light that was updated.

What Superman is intended to stand for and represent, his optimism and idealism in a world that isn't as bright and colorful today as it was in the 70's, is still quite demonstrable to me in both MoS and BvS.

I don't hate Cavill. He's good in the role but to me, he'll never really be Superman, just like the New 52 Superman will never be Superman. It's just a question of generation I guess but to me, in order to qualify as Superman you need at least two things: a Superman costume and optimism, two things the examples quoted above just don't have.

What we get is a Superdude in over designed duds that sings to the tune of his time: pessimism. I guess each generation gets their own rendition, and I guess it also tells a lot about the world we live in... :(

Yeah I think a lot of the issue with Cavill's Superman is that he's seemingly based too much on the New 52 version. I really don't like that run of DC in general. The Rebirth series is better so maybe they'll start going in that direction.

I thought MoS was light hearted enough, at least enough for someone going through so much... I really liked the color pallet of MoS and BvS.

I never cared for the boy scout, happy go lucky Superman, such a bore and uninteresting... then again I've had a hard life and always favored darker characters/stories because of it.

Isn't the character going to be increasingly optimistic as this universe develops? Sure sounds like it for JL and WB looking at the likes of Matthew Vaughan for his next solo movie. The tone of the next Superman movie will probably much closer resemble Wonder Woman than MoS.

I actually like his costume. Just make it a little more colourful, the way WW armour was in her solo movie, and it would be close to perfect.

I agree sj2106 I really like his costume too. Brightened up a tad bit like how the WW was in her solo movie, and that would also look really good I think.

I love the longer more regal cape compared to previous suits, the texture and material are great to.

The colours a shade or two lighter like this fan art would be ideal, for my tastes at least.
